Actually, I think Taylor is underrated. He was just a bad style for Pavlik because of his limitations, and, probably, trainer at the time. He was a fantastic fighter.

Not sure you need to be a genius to make a list of things he was doing wrong, or should have done against Martinez.

Styles make fights Boo, you can't come back and say a bad Pavlik turned up everytime he loses, you gotta see what really happened. Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez happened. But I have only one thing to say: keep supporting your guy because Kelly needs all his fans right now. Hopefully he'll be back, he's young and you learn from every fight - ultimately, it's just a lost not the end of the world.

And for an honest, objective, accurate analysis of the fight, please carefully listen to Dwyer's comments, he's telling how it is.

Yeah. Some of it has been mentioned in other threads. Like no inside game. Kelly also didn't have an outside game, just a middle and allowed Martinez to dictate the long range game and the short range game late. I've also said in other threads he thinks Kelly needs to go on the Gandi diet and lose the excess muscle he put on because, and this sounded strange, height is its own speed and things appear faster when you are the taller guy so he needs to stay at MW since his speed isn't as good as the top guys. I was thinking of Paul Williams at that point..... (But this may be why Kelly say his speed is under rated, because he fought mostly shorter guys at MW?) There were some other things, but I'm not going to try and go from memory too much since these weren't my observations and I can't defend/justify what he said.

    Sour grapes!

I would rather see these ohio pavlik fans just admit they were thinking geographically and not logically.

But i thought from your view that Loew was a great trainer? But seriously props for finally give credit where credit is do even though your making the weight drain excuse :rofl. Like i told you before boo that Pavlik won't beat Martinez cause he'll have trouble with Martinez slick style. The reason Pavlik was undefeated at middleweight before last saturday night was cause he fought the fighters that stand in front of him.

A fantastic fighter that went 2-1-4 at the highest level then, with those two decisions seen as suspect by many.

I'd say the way he was bummed by HBO versus his performances since is the textbook definition of overated, but I don't really care enough about it to argue with you.

    Welcome back, boo. :good

One small nitpick - Pavlik did manage a rally, here (although a short-lived and, as you say, going by the punch stats, a half-hearted rally). Where was his rally (or even attempt at one) against Hopkins? I just don't know that this can be called a worse performance than one in which he lost more rounds and didn't have a dominant moment, let alone minute, let alone round.

Yeah, Bernard's a bigger and better fighter than Martinez. But he was old, and an underdog. And Kelly was undefeated and confident...and still lost every second, looking even more confused (if at least hungrier and more desperate) than he did against Martinez.

Well done Boo Radley. I think Pavlik has been circling the drain mentally since Hopkins, or maybe even a little before. The guy needs to do one thing, and that's get his life in order. You don't yo yo your weight like that when your career is in the balance, unlsee there is something wrong in your life outside the ring. I read a Youngstown thread and there are a lot who claim they know him/know about him and his life is at least a bit out of control and parties too much.
