Excuses, excuses, excuses. Why cant you just admit that Pavlik was always a limited fighter?

Agree with you. I like Taylor a lot, but he was never EVER a superstar that they made him out to be, but still a good win on other peoples resumes. He was struggling badly pretty much every fight since the Hopkins fight. They even brought in Kassim Ouma, a smaller man who would literally sit right in front of him, to be his KO victim and he couldn't win that fight impressively. Too bad, I like Taylor a lot, but he was built up to be a great fighter that wasn't.

    That fight was horrible.

Taylor seemed a good man. Seems, Christ, he's not dead

Neither are his chances of regaining gold.

I give him a damn good shot at Martinez if he can cut the weight properly. (see my other thread)

Based largely on boo's pet peeve - styles making fights.

How's that for instantly overrating the new champ?

You're still overating Taylor, is what it is.

He might grab it, but how long can he hold it? They'd be ****ing queing up to knock him out, he doesn't even have the boon that respect brings against middle-upper end contender types.

It's called sweet science for a reason Boo. Pavlik had Taylor's number, Maravilla had Pavlik's, Margarito had Maravilla's, Mosley had Margarito's etc. It is very disrespectful for the winner to say "oh THIS version of my fighter would've got KO'd by a bum."

Forget what I ever said on the fight: this guy predicted exactly how the fight would go down and it went down pretty much that way minus the knockdown. Learn from him:

hey boo, glad you're back and it was a very classy post. i agree with you for the most part on the critiques of pavlik. lack of preparation and continued arrogance were his biggest problems going into the ring; evidently martinez was his biggest problem when the bell sounded.

all our favourites lose...**** micky ward and roberto duran almost made careers out of it

    That's completely unfair to Pavlik.

He didn't let anyone down at all. He gave it his best shot, but got beaten by the better man. Everyone on here knew he was up against it because of the clash of styles and he just wasn't able to overcome that and beat the better man. You can't look at the way he fought though, pick it apart and say he has no balls. He got beaten, that's all.

It wasn't a disgraceful performance but he just couldn't cope with the skills and natural abilities that Martinez has. You should have known this, given all your extensive research and in-depth posts about punch stats, claiming to be able to see what shots Martinez eats for fun and how easily Pavlik destroyed lesser fighters who were tailor made for him.

This is the problem I have: You make such bold claims about Pavlik this and Pavlik that, yet when he doesn't deliver, there is always something behind it. Why can't you just hold your hands up, keep it short and sweet and just say "Martinez was the better man"?

It's bull****. Despite all the evidence pointing towards a Martinez victory, you chose to overanalyze the fight, made stupid reference points and then said disgusting things like "Martinez will leave on a stretcher". After getting beaten, rather than accept Pavlik was inferior it's "But, but, but".

Everyone on this forum makes wrong predictions. I've never agreed with NBA on Mayweather and various other fighters and I thought his prediction that Clottey would beat Pacquiao was very misguided, but, you know, he just came on here and did the right thing, which is something you and the other pathetic Pavlik fans can't do.

The funny thing is, it wasn't that bad from him, he was just made to look awful. I imagine I will end up defending him, whereas you "fans" will put a negative spin on Martinez's performance and accuse Pavlik of a lack of effort or whatever nonsense. A funny twist, after the previous 2 or 3 weeks of debating between us.

Exactly. Its a see through, bull****, cop out post from him.

Pavlik's nutlickers can talk all they want bout Pav being this systematic killer, but he's not. What he is is just a basic one-two puncher who has a good jab, and a heavy(but not devestating) right hand, and little else. He's slow of both hand and foot, and has ponderous footwork which makes him unable to handle any type of lateral movement.

BooPavley can make all the excuses he wants, and can contrast the Pav of now to the one that fought Taylor, but the fact is.... Taylor never had the type of quickness and skills that Martinez has.

All thats been proven is that Kelly Pavlik AND Jermain Taylor are probably the two most overrated fighters of the last 10 years.

He already did get off the canvas to win a world title :lol::lol::patsch:patsch:patsch... and he would take a UD in the rematch. And is taking a 12 round schooling off an old ass Hopkins meant to be some sort of achievement??? Who did Bernard last KO? LOL.. you still fail.

i love them both but i'll agree with you. pavlik is a very limited fighter, entertaing but limited. taylor had tremendous talent but his head was too far up their ass to use it

i'm a fan of both but i'll admit they are very overrated and neither quite elite world beaters
