    I was a tough young SOB, learning on the job,who lost almost half of my first 20 bouts...I persevered and made the boxing HOF...Who was I ?

    What HOF are you talking about? Frankie Garcia lost 9 of his first 21 bouts, going 10-9-1 with 1 NC and he is in the World Boxing Hall of Fame.

    The Boxing Hall Of Fame...Arguably in the top ten greatest fighters in his division of alltime...No question...

    Here are the close ones that i came up with:

    Billy Conn lost first 7 out of 15 bouts
    <br>
    Joe Jeannette comes close. It would depend on what source your going by. Ring has him losing the first 8 of 18 bouts. Boxrec has 8 out of 22.

    Fredie Pendelton lost his first 5 of 7 or so. Not sure he is a hall-of-famer but a tough nut once he found his stride in the pro game.

    Yes it was the great Billy Conn....No amateur career to speak of, he was thrown to the woves as a youngster,learning onb the job...And how he learned,starting his pro career at 17 years of age...Look at the veterans Conn fought and beat at 18-19...Zivic,Risko,Oscar Rankins,Yarosz,Young Corbett,etc....Frank Graham, a great boxing writer,had Conn even up with Ray Robinson,at middleweight, in a1940s column, I recall,so highly regarded was a 160 lb,21 year old Billy those tough days...

    Victims---Bettina,Apostoli,Krieger,Lesnevich,Bob Pastor, Savold,Gunnar Barlund, and of course Joe Louis,1941...After a slow start, Conn became one of our greatest fighters, for sure.....
