Since beating Kessler shot ward up the rankings, does a victory over Kessler for Froch gain him similiar respect and move him into #1?. Resume wise it is without question imo but is that enough?

There wouldn't be any argument at all for Bute being number 1 if Froch beats Kessler.

it depends on the manor of the victory

ward shut him out and was well ahead on the scorecards before the fight was stopped

if froch can do the same (very unlikely), he could be considered alongside ward as the number 1 SMW. making a fight between the 2 mouth watering

there is also the case of lucian bute. a lot of people will argue with you that he is number 1 SMW, but as he isn't in the super six, a fight involving him and the other 2 could be a long way off

i would say that until we get a winner of the super six against bute, we won't have a clear number 1, but even then, bute may have faded out, only time will tell

If Froch beats Kessler, I just don't see how Bute could be rated above him. That would be four fighters he would've beaten who are better than any of Bute's wins in all fairness. I'm not the biggest Froch fan (although he does make me laugh), but objectively speaking, he should be rated above Bute if he beats Kessler.

I'm curious as to what Kessler as done in the last 3 years to propel people at the top of the division when they beat him. His only victories are over Danilo Haussler, Dimitri Sartisson and Gusmyr Perdomo.

Just saying... 3 years is a LONG time. Jermain Taylor was still undefeated for Christ sake!

Froch has beaten Pascal, taylor, direll and if he beats Kessler without a shadow of a doubt he should be rated number one. I don't give a **** about how well he wins. Styles make fights. But a win is a win in my book.

I guess after I read these arguments, Froch should be #1 then yes... :think

I would like to see Froch's reaction to that if it happens, maybe he'll say things like Floyd like beïng better than SRR! :D

Oh but Froch has already stated that he sees himself as a combination of the fab four. Just imagine what would happen if he were to cement his position as #1 at SMW :D

#1 SMW in the world at this moment in time is Dirrell. That doesn't change, even with a Froch KO over Kessler. Ward already beat Kessler.

Cmon , if he was fighting Bute next and Bute won you'd be calling Bute P4P no. 1
