Given that Dan is so weak off his back, I think that GSP would have kept him on his back but had more chance of stopping/submitting him.

Why is everyone doubting GSP could take Hendo down but Shields was successful on nearly every takedown attempt if not all.

I don't think Hendo even does much wrestling/grappling training anymore.

I know Kos said he barely wrestles at all now; most of his training is striking. GSP doesn't have the credntials of these guys but I think he really is getting better while some star wrestlers aren't.

At this point in Hendo's career, yes, GSP would beat him, easily. The only chance Dan would have of winning would be to stuff the takedown attempts long enough to land that big right hand. If Henderson hit GSP with what he hit Shields with in the 1st round, GSP would have went to sleep.

Yeah and thats a big deal. Just because you have great pedigree at something doesnt mean you can just stop and have nothing to worry about. It applys everywhere IMO if a great NFL QB like Peyton Manning just stopped throwing for a few months then showed up to play a game he would embarrass himself.

Shields had an easy time of it, and so would GSP.. GSP would commit to submissions attempts and actually strike with bad intentions from full mount.. GSP would have owned Hendo that night.

GSP could not stop Dan Hardy. I doubt he would have stopped Henderson unless he locked up a sub.

GSP beats a 40 year old Hendo, yes. However, if you take today's GSP and put him against a 32-35 year old Hendo, I think Dan cleans his clock.
