It's a good thread and question. I looked for his fight against Roughhouse Fischer for Tom's wife for several years- a main event never televised or recorded. I also think his fight with Franco Thomas was televised on CBS but I've never seen a copy anywhere.

I have the Cooney fight. I have the Ali fight in which he gives Ali a boxing lesson, the Norton and Foreman fight and one of the Lyle fights.

JY was tagging Norton pretty good there! I saw it live on TV about a million years ago. Thanks for posting!

Young should have been declared the winner in his bouts with Ali and Norton. He was robbed..no love for effective negativity.

That's the one that I would want to see. Young really didn't get any respect for having such a resume. He embarrassed Foreman, Lyle, Norton, and in my opinion outpointed Ali. That's a better resume then most of the heavies today.

Was the Ali-Young fight worth seeing? I don't want to watch it and feel sorry for Ali.

    No, not really.

The Foreman and especially the Norton matches are though. Norton fight is a damned good tussle.

Hell yes Ali-Young was worth seeing, as was any Young fight of the 70's.

No point in feeling sorry for Ali in the Young fight..hell, he was only the champion and on a sub par evening was essentially outpointed and outfoxed by Young..no disgrace in that. It was pure Ali-idolatry, and highway robbery that kept Jimmy Young from being crowned champion that night. If anything feel sorry for Jimmy Young...he was deprived unjustly of a career goal.

Young should have done better against Ali in that fight though.

Ali was in HORRIBLE shape, as bad as when he fought Leon Spinks, and fatter than I've ever seen him in a fight, at 230 pounds.

Even though I feel Young won that fight with Ali, I believe that he would have cemented the win and no doubt impressed the most skeptical of judges if he had been only slightly less negative. He could have gone on the offensive a little more than he did.
