Tyson-Bruno I. There were fights before this but this is the first one I remember from my first viewing rather than repeat viewings. I listened to it live on the radio (!) with my dad and then got up and watched the re-run at ten the next morning on Grandstand.
The Rumble in the Jungle was probably the first fight I watched, I was about 11 then, I also recall seeing Frazier - Ali III, I remember the world stopping and watching both these fights. They were truly world wide events back then.
Hey John, was any of Sugar Ray's none filmed fight performance better display's of Robinson's talents as LaMotta IV. would really like to know,
Yes, MB. It was at the ol' Garden. Pep was MASTERFUL -- double 'n triple jabs, shoe shines, countering, moving left moving right, always floating, keeping his distance under Saddler's fierce non-stop pressure. He wanted to grind Willie to powder. Even when roughed-up and slugged, Willie sucked-it-up 'n kept his poise. A well deserved win, in a classic fight.
Nigel Benn was big in my house I remember watching his rematch with Eubank but not really knowing everything that was going on. Benn vs Collins and Bruno vs Tyson 2 I remember watch properly.
Funnily enough so did i. it was about 3 in the morning and after listening to the commentary i couldnt wait to see it on a sunday on BBC as i thought bruno really held his own as the commentary suggested. The actual fight was nothing like the commentary to my memory
