    Who takes it?
i'm leaning towards Ray Mercer in an action packed fight, by Points.

If it was the Quarry would picked Spencer, Mac Foster and Ron Lyle clean then I take Quarry by decision. He won't knocking Mercer out but Quarry had similar handspeed to Morrison - who was landing a lot of snappy combos on Mercer in that fight. The difference is that I believe Quarry would have been able to sustain it for longer than Morrison hence the verdict on points.

    Quarry UD

Quarry was a heck of a lot tougher than Morrison, and was more resilient when hurt. The Quarry that fought Spencer would have been more effective with his punch placement than Morrison, and the version of Jerry that beat Lyle would have, like it's been said earlier, been able to sustain a boxing clinic vs Mercer. Altogether, Jerry Quarry had more on the ball than Tommy Morrison...and old fashioned toughness more than anything else.

Mercer simply too big and strong for Quarry.......... Mercer also owns the better chin while being in his prime......... Quarry tuff as nails, but his skin shreds like toilet paper........ Mercer by 7th round KO / TKO..........

You're overrating Mercer and underrating Quarry.

I think Mercer stops Quarry on cuts, but not after Quarry gives Mercer an ass kicking for about 7 rounds

Oh yeah, Morrison was a big *****, what with continuing to throw bombs at his opponents when he had two broken hands and a smashed jaw.

Mercer was not as naturally big and strong as the better conditioned Lyle. Mac Foster and Earnie Shavers had far greater power. Ray wasn't the kind of puncher who typically carved and chopped up an opponent's skin. Jerry would hand him a boxing lesson like Holmes did. Ray foolishly tailed Larry into the corners and ropes, and that was Jerry's specialty.

    I'd agree.

Mercer's jab marked men up like few I've ever seen. It was also more then likely among the top 20-25 HW jabs of all time when he was really using it.

How many fighters have we seen connect with jabs, or even mark up Wladimir K's face with jabs?

A 41 year old Mercer did just that with Wlad. You'd be hard pressed to find a more one sided ass kicking but Mercer's jab still connected and did damage. Cut him with it.

Quarry wasn't particularly hard to cut, and Mercer certainly isn't going to be stopped. Matter of time more or less unless Quarry stays elusive the entire fight, which isn't really his style.

Saying "jerry Quarry was a hell of a lot tougher than Tommy Morrison" is synonymous with saying that Quarry had a better chin..and could withstand adversity a bit better..same thing. This type of parlance occurs all the time in the Classic forum. It isn't quite the same as calling the other guy a "*****"..you do understand that I hope.
