Chavez's best weight was 140Lbs. and Mosley's best work has been at 147Lbs. but Mosley could have made 140 well into his WW career.

So, Chavez vs. Mosley prime vs. prime... I don't wanna hear anything about Mosley not having experience at 140Lbs.! I said prime vs. prime. IMO, Mosley at his best could have made JWW. I think Mosley would have ruled JWW had he wanted to.

Who do you all think would win? How would the fight unfold? Vote, discuss.

Chavez would grind Mosley down. Better chin, better defence, better bodypunching. Mosley would make the same mistake Taylor made. Chavez would break him doen but not stop him. Mosley would be cut, bloodied and badly beaten in the end. Mosley´s speed will make it close on the cards, possibly a SD or MD but when you look into their faces you would know who won.

I don't have a problem with your pick at all. Chavez was a very special fighter. I picked Mosley on points but it's a tough close fight either way.

As for Meldrick Taylor. He had amazing speed but was much easier to hit than Mosley. Also, Mosley was much stronger and more durable than Taylor. Mosley also has very good power even at 154Lbs.

There is footage of the two sparring readily available. More then likely viewable on youtube right now.

I think this would be very, very close. Chavez the better boxer, Mosley the bigger, faster man. I see brutal classic. Could go either way to me.

I don't really see how Chavez has a better chin than Shane Mosley.

Well in a head to head bout i think Mosley has a good chance at his very best 147 form. Chavez' best head to head form was 135 imo, Mosley is bigger and has attributes in this type of fight to get it done. At 135 we could match them both up but prime for prime imo is the unbeaten Mosley at 147 vs Chavez at 135. That's not great for Chavez imo.

Chavez is a much better fighter though, p4p.

Like Taylor, Shane is speedy, but has more power...and a reach advantage. That, I feel, would be the difference in this one. Mosley would edge it on points.

    Chavez.

Mosley's style was supposedly built around fighting Mexicans, but even so, I don't see it as a great match-up for him. Above 135, Mosley's offence is a little bit simplistic, and he's just fundamentally not that good at creating opportunities to get off. He needs someone who's either going to brawl with him and let him get off his combinations, or someone who will readily fall into the straight right. Chavez doesn't really have the poor technique that would allow Mosley to do this. He has a solid guard, good head movement, and throws precise, short, well-timed shots that you can't counter. Mosley's only real advantage is his size, but I don't even see that coming into play particularly. Chavez has the better right hand, so when Mosley does try to lead he'll get out-timed most of the time.

Anyway, most of the fight would consist of Chavez walking Mosley down and taking the fight inside where Mosley is uncomfortable and would be clearly beaten. Chavez wins a competitive but clear UD.

    Chavez by decision.

After a slow start, JCC starts to time Mosely thru the mid-late rds making him brawl in close were Chavez slips (& takes) a lot of shots but lands the more damaging punches throughout in a brutal war. Mosely sees the bell in a 12 rder.

    Chavez UD12 Mosely.

Julio Ceaser Chavez's best weight was not 140. He was muxh better at 130 and 135.
Chavez has trubble with speed. Meldrick Taylor and Prenell Whatiker come to mind. Shane Mosley has speed.
Mosley by decision 9-3 or 8-4.

Id rate it better...not by much but I think a distinction can be made.

He was nearly stopped on two occasions in the first fight by Forrest, whom had has just landed the kitchen sink on Frank and Phillips with minimal effect.

Shane is tough...and pretty smart and wiley aswell. He doesnt have to do the chicken dance everytime he is hurt, he has the kind of beard where that just wont happen much...but you can see when he has been hurt a bit when he gets a bit timid or discouraged.

Chavez was very very hard to discourage in his prime and really proved his durability with what he was willing to walk through to get his pound of flesh.

I think he has the better chin of the two.
