Floyd seems loyal to the WBC Belt

    Found out this week that the Mayweather-Mosley fight is not for the title...I BELIEVE THAT FLOYD IS LOYAL TO THE WBC FOR WHATEVER REASON...

    I know he had the one fight with Zab which he accepted the IBF, and later vacated but I believe that was some sort of politics as he didn't have a title in the 147lb weight class at that time.

    Following Floyd's career I noticed (when he was interested in belts back n the 90s early 2000s) he was always trying to get fights with the WBC champs...He was always fighting fighters ranked higher on the WBC chart as he was moving up...

    I believe the fight before Genaro Hernandez with Tony Pep had him fighting a top 10 SFW ranked by the WBC ( I dont know how as he Pep wasn't very good) in PeP...Floyd defended his WBC Strap against 9 opponents at 130

    When he moved up to fight Castillo he didn't have to take any eliminators..Castillo was the WBC champ...

    At 140 Floyd had to take 2 eliminators to get to the WBC strap which he did...Corley and Bruseles...Gatti held the WBC belt and again he took that belt and bounced out the division..

    At 147 he fought Carlos Baldomir who was the WBC champ...Zab was orginally supposed to fight him for the WBC but we know what happened with the upset..

    Same at 154...Oscar was the WBC champ and he won that belt...

    I just dont understand what the big deal is about the WBC belt in comparison with other belts...it was the first belt but it seems to be the most money hungry of the sanctioning bodies....

    I don't buy it. He gladly accepted that IBF belt. He only gave it up because he didn't want to fight Mark Suarez. His fight against Pacquiao was going to be for Pac's WBO belt.

    The WBC belt is the prettiest, maybe its just that simple. Very attractive belt.

    WBC had the most badAZZ mother****ers from the past holding their championships. It's the richest in history with the most quality fighters. That's the reason.

    The WBC is about as 'real' as it gets with all of the alphabets out there. WBO WBA IBF IBO NABF etc etc whatever

    One belt is enough, and if Mayweather can make it so the WBC is recognized as such, it does nothing but help boxing on the whole.

    Isn't Berto the current WBC title holder? I guess maybe we all know who Floyd will go after next... if he beats Shane.

    Floyd always says he's won the "official belt" at whichever weight class he's won it in...

    Yeah, but the WBO belt was still scheduled to be on the line.

    maybe...the fight wasn't finalized and the fees weren't paid


    maybe it would have been, maybe it wouldn't


    i am surprised that the WBA belt isn't up for grabs, just for the sake of future negotiations (if floyd wins) but he has shown loyalty for WBC

    edit: pac would have also looked awful if he won the belt at 145, but wouldn't defend it at 147

    No, the prelim agreement called for the belt to be on the line. The WBO has a cap on the sanctioning fee. I'm guessing the WBA doesn't.

    an uncapped % for the largest $ event in the history of the sport would be a pretty penny

    Once you win a title its easier to become ranked highly as you go up in weight.
