What happened with the meeting they were supposed to have last Wednesday?

 

Word is Adam Booth had a back injury and couldn't attend.

Well he's been on holiday and the UK has been a no-fly zone for the last week. Where on Earth could he possibly be?

I would imagine they are in negotiations. the fact we have not heard from them is probably a good sign.

 

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the negotiations - if there are any - will fail miserably.

Both camps will obviously blame each other. Who loses? The boxing fans who were promised "excitement" by Haye two years ago and so far I've just see him dance around and beat up over-the-hill type guys who are 10 years older than him.

Haye seems very happy with the way things are right now, making good money as a paper belt holder on UK PPV fighting low risk opponents. He will keep doing what he's doing until people stop paying to see him beat up have-beens.

IMO Haye will most likely rematch Valuev this fall.

 

He's basking in the glory of his victory over ATG John Ruiz. Give him a few weeks to come down from the euphoria, he shocked the world and himself in that fight, let him enjoy it.

For all we know the difference wasn't in the money, it was in the type of opposition.

The Klit "slave contract" consisted of taking turns fighting the two toughest currently active Heavyweights. This is as close to mission impossible as you can get as a challenger, but that's what Haye (allegedly) wanted.

For the same money, Haye ran to Sauerland, signed the same type of "slave contract" but was able to fight old low-risk have-beens like Valuev and Ruiz. Now he rematches Valuev and then probably fights some other beatable nobody and then will have satisfied his options.

Money wise it's probably similar since the majority of his income comes from UK PPV and the Brits appear to be happy to pay him 14.95 quid no matter what opponent he fights. Just the risk is much much lower with the type of opposition Sauerland lines up for him.

I'm amazed people were so naive and fell for the "slave contract" excuse and can't tell the forest from the trees.

 

Ah come on the Klitschko's are known for their tight negotiating. Booth said on Sky Sports News that they would talk this week and they will. You can hardly say Haye has ducked anyone. He is a heavyweight champion and unified cruiserweight champ all before he has had 30 fights. You don't do that taking the easy route.
