John Simpson - Stephen Smith 11th June

Like I said, I will give him credit if he beats Magee. No way is Smith nubmer 2 in Britain, he is behind Froch and Magee. don't forget Magee never lost his british title in the ring, he vacated it when he pulled out of the Dodson fight injured. Remember Kell Brook refused to call himself the British Champion until he beat McIntyre, Smith is in the same position.

AlndI did not think Smith looked good at all in either of his last 2 fights. Quigley is a light Middleweight and Dodson was finished. If Smith was as good as Avid is making out he would of won by comfortable wide decisions of stopped both. In 6 months time Groves and DeGale will take Smith out, and i cannot see him getting past Magee.

I think Steohen Smith will win and go on to be a top p4p fighter, serious thats how high i rate him. Simpson is a tough job but his class will show.

end of the day, smith beat dodson conformatbly enough in the end, even with 3 seperate cuts that would have stopped and hindered other fighters.

the quigey fight wasn't great, and it was a close as it turned out to be, and i think smigga may have let the occasion get to him slightly.

But yes, his performance should have been better.

Groves and degale wont end up fighting smith. They will wait for the title to become vacant, and then battle it out, as i can see smith vacating and moving onto a couple of euro defences if successful against magee.

as regards ste, i cant disagree with you, class through and through. best out of the 3 brothers :deal

 

So why are you giving Avid **** for supporting a fighter even though he hasn't said anything unreasonable, yet you are proclaiming a 10 fight novice as a future 'top p4p fighter'?

 

i think what it is kos, rob doesn't particulary like me.

I am reasonable fella. I like ste smith, and he has amazing potential.

i think the simpson is a tough fight for him, but it might not have come too early, but beating simpson marks you out as a top boy in britain, not p4p atg.

Not saying ste can't win a world title etc, but we are a long time off being able to even tell if ste can be a p4p'er, and i am sure he would say the same.

 

I have nothing agaisnt you and and i think your a good poster expect when it comes to discussing the Smiths. clearly you know them on a personal level, which completley clouds your judgement of there abilitys, but it also makes you an easy target to wind up.

that is just me showing how much I rate him. people were saying the same thing about other fighters after 10 fights, I dont see why I cant do the same about Smith. Hatton and Calzaghe were both top 10 P4P and I think Smith can be as good as them. I dont think thats to crazy.

 

rob, i don't know how many times or way i can say this.....

i do not know any of the smiths on any kind of personal level whatsoever.

met them all once when i picked tickets up once for the dodson fight.

I don't think my judgement is clouded in terms of their abilities, in fact, me opinion is similar to your with regard to ste's ability.

clearly we differ where paul is concerned, but i have alway stated what i think his shortcomings are, and i have never said he is a world level fighter, that he needs to earn this over the next 3-4 fights he has.

i am an easy target, but because i have such impassioned views with regards to smigga, and also because people take that to mean i am up his arse, and overrating him i have to fire back as i am a fan, but also i have to clarify what it is that i have and have't said.

 

Neither do I, but what I have heard Avid say about Paul Smith is that he can beat Magee/Groves and would have a chance against Stieglitz. I don't agree with what he says, but what he has said isn't that crazy either.

 

Absolutely DELIGHTED about this fight, been asking for meaningful fights for a while now, get no credit in beating journeymen. Got the upmost respect for John Simpson, cant say a bad word about him. Tough as they come.

Understand people making me underdog in this fight what with John having been there before BUT i'm far from underdog in my own eyes which is what counts as I have every confidence in my ability and what I will bring and cant wait for the night to come
