Henry Clark looks better than Williams on film, beat Eddie Machen, was ranked by Ring in a stronger era, but you've left him ofyour list for Liston.

On the other hand, mighty Danny Williams is a good win for Vitali.

You're all over the place. Basically it's the type of thread you would expect from a guy who has a porn starlet covered in cum in his avatar.

and tarver (in his first fight of the two) against harding , but at least tarver did not have the big size advantage that liston had . and tarver remained unstopped to this day , fighting past age 41.

Liston was undefeated and had been an amatuer star. summerlin had already been knocked out by wes bascom and was years away from being rated when liston struggled with him. he was as safe opponent as they could find.

    dumb ass...
stop worshipping vitali klitschko! Floyd Patterson is a better fighter then any of vitali's opponents. the comp that Liston had is STILL superior to the comp today. beating Cleveland Williams, Floyd Patterson, folley, machen, these guys are much better then the fighters you listed earlier.

    Five proffessional fights.

You're trying to hold dual wins over an established pro by a novice who had had five fights, against him as a negative, wtf?

one of the reasons why i rarely watch your ol' fart time filmz iz bikoz they are only fartial , it's like abraham's nuthuggerz , if any , and i believe there are some , will keep forever his knockdown of dirrell , and not dirrell knocking down abraham , and then this is what will remain forever from their fight

Orlin Norris would have beaten Floyd Patterson worse than Joey Maxim did.
and why were Williams , Folley and Machen any better than Dicky Ryan , at least he stopped a streaking Brian Nielsen

Liston showed himself a naturally gifted boxer in a brief amateur career but he was far from an amateur "star". Summerlin was his first real test with more than 20 fights of pro experience compared to Liston who only had 5 fights. Saying Summerlin was knocked out by Bascom is an exaggeration as he was stopped on cuts which can happen to any fighter. The only man to legitimately knock him out was Nino Valdes at the very end of Summerlin's career.

Years away from being rated? Liston fought Summerlin at the end of 1954. Here are 1955 rankings:

    Rocky Marciano, Champion

    1. Archie Moore
    2. Bob Baker
    3. Tommy (Hurricane) Jackson
    4. John Holman
    5. Willie Pastrano
    6. Nino Valdes
    7. Johnny Summerlin
    8. Bob Satterfield
    9. Young Jack Johnson
    10. Ezzard Charles

That is corect. i agree with it since this is true. Liston was the gifted prospect and his backers were looking for fights for him. they had invested in him and they had to get him fights for him to develop. given that sonny was the house fighter with the big punch summerlin represented a fighter with a good record on paper who had been stopped before by someone (bascom) a known fringe contender (bucceroni) had knocked out. its a risk on paper but in theory bucceroni makes it safer looking. when joe louis started out he fought some tough guys on paper at the earliest stages like this since he also had advantage in talent it could be aforded. Louis also knocked out these guys in rematches.

yes i think the Ko win over young zorra folley put summerlin in here. folley also fought liston too after he had been stopped..
    how long was summerlin rated?

I like liston. you are correct if he was just a good champ this would be a posative. Im not atacking sonny liston the good champ. I am attacking the aura. sonny liston is not superman.
