Moore relishing Wolak opportunity 15 April 2010 - By Cormac Campbell New York based Wicklowman James Moore has told irish-boxing.com that he will gatecrash the world rankings when he clashes with Pawel Wolak in New York on June 5. The bout, which takes place in Yankee Stadium, sees the 2001 World Amateur Bronze medallist now 17-2 (10KO) - as a pro go head to head with the 28-year-old US based Pole, whose record stands at 26-1 (17KO). Understandibly Moore is relishing the opportunity. "I'm training in Gleasons at the moment but will be going to camp on May 1," he told irish-boxing.com. "I think John Duddy will be going up to camp aswell. My dad is coming over to help me prepare in camp too. It the first time there's a boxing show in the new Yankee Stadium. "I have seven weeks from Saturday to get in the shape. I need to be to beat this guy. He comes straight at you and is very aggresive and I think it will suite me as I can outbox him. He's ranked in the top 15 in a few of the sanctioning bodys so a win here will put me back on the map. "For sparring I have a few guys lined up. It's a great opportunity for me and both our aggresive styles will make for a great fight. It doesn't get any bigger than this so i'm going to give it all I have to get in the best shape I can.
lads in the paper it said jim rock had watched mamadou thiam fight trindad as he was promised first shot at thiam if he won.Did rock ever fight for any of the major titles
Still no word mate...but whoever it is it should be a step up. Looking someone who looks like they could give me 6rounds on paper. Hopefully get an rounder then on the mccloskey bill
No and with all respect to Jim he never came close. His biggest chance was when he fought Takaloo for the WBU title and was knocked out in emphatic fashion. I'm nearly sure I saw the fight but remember nothing but the ko(which I've seen since), but from accounts on the British forum in the past Jim was doing a pretty good job until he got caught with a cracking punch. But I'd doubt Jim was ever even ranked by any of the 'World' sanctioning bodies(not that, that would matter with them)

O'HARA NEXT IN LINE FOR CHAMPION SYKES http://www.examiner.co.uk/sport-new...xt-in-line-for-champion-sykes-86081-26291455/ [/QUOTE] O'Hara's fight with Sykes in Huddersfield. Shame. It would have made a great double header with Lindsay.
Been off line all week guy but a new laptop is being delivered - unfortunately I may have lost everything on the previous laptop - Jim never really had a chance of getting in line for a 'proper title' - plenty of promises were made but never really materialised or (from what I have heard from the other side) Jimbo priced himself out of the fights. In the Takaloo fight Jim started well enough but the writing was on the wall to be honest and Tak showed that he was the quality fighter in the ring from about round 5 onwards. But just as Jim looked like he was getting back into it he walked onto and into a beautiful heavy overhand right which saw him put into reverse and end up on this arse. He got up quick (too quick) and was very dazed - the only time I ever saw him in any trouble in his career (I wasnt at and didnt see the Bingham fight) and the ref stopped the fight - no complaints. I have the fight on video if anyone knows how to transfer that onto DVD or upload onto YouTube I will happily send it to them. (yes BE I will send you Kelly-Maludrottu tomorrow (only 2 years late eh! ))
Either the Irish title or Celtic title by the end of the year mate. That's the plan We have asked matchroom to get us an English opponent who will give me some rounds for the may 7th bill by the way
