Balanced Mayweather Hate. Meaningful posts please.

  1. Why are all the Mayweather haters lumped into the same category?

Some people hate Floyd simply because he isn't Pacquiao, so they find whatever reason they can to hate and discredit Mayweather...sometimes blindly.

Then there are people like me.. we can't ignore how brilliant the man is inside the ring... we absolutely have to recognize that he is an All Time Great at this time in his career, but we can't stand his attitude, his face.. some of his decisions opponent-wise.. and just generally want him knocked out...

I want some observations from the haters and the nuthuggers alike...:deal

Mayweather is one of the most talented fighters I have seen in my lifetime. The man can just about it all. His comp is a lot better than given credit for. He's 33, been a pro for over 10 years and is in the midst of assaulting the p4p top 10 list.

I hate floyd because he's over hyped by himself and his fans.
He also brings a negative light to boxing by making ridiculous accusations and hurting other fighters credibility.

    For evidence look below me.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the greatest boxer in history. People dislike Floyd because he is the best, he knows he is the best, and he says he is the best.

I enjoy watching floyd fight and consider myself a fan of his. But after watching the first two 24/7 episodes, floyd is getting on my nerves. He is coming off as very obnoxious and classless.(especially in the second) Although i think he will beat mosley handily, I would like to see how he acts on the next 24/7 if mosely pulls off the upset and they have the rematch.

I enjoy watching his craft in the ring. I think he's an annoying character, but I rarely pay attention to that. Some of my favorite fighters were dirtbags who did some disgusting things.

I don't like the fact though that Mayweather really wasted the last two years. This wasn't a case where a fighter's on the outside looking in, hoping to get the big fights but can't. He became the second biggest PPV draw behind Oscar. After beating Hatton, he negotiated a rematch with De La Hoya, "retired", and then fought a great fighter who's two divisions below him. I'm very glad he's facing Shane Mosley, but those were still wasted years.

I actually like Floyd and I respect his talent. He's truly a boxing whiz and has immense boxing ability, ring saavy, and he's a tireless trainer. I have no beef with what he does in the ring. My only beef is that he failed to face the better competition of his day. The fight with Mosley is a bit late IMO and I feel we didn't get to see him measured against the Beast of this Era. That will forever be the stain on his legacy.

Who is this "better competition" that you speak of?

His fans are the worst, they think he can't loose just because he Beat Corrales, an old DLH and Castillo. And they say he is gonna whoop everyone up to MW just because he Beat Hatton, Judah, Mitchell and Baldomir at WW. And showing flaws against Judah. But hey , we don't talk about that. He is the defensive master who will retire undefeated, and what he does against Baldomir he could do to anyone. So there is no point matching him with other fighters:thumbsup

You say this but put a poll up of him against just about any boxer from MW on down and he does pretty well. And these are not just Mayweather fans voting on these polls. I mean 3 months ago everyone one here was saying Mayweather was scared of Mosley and that Mosley would run through him. Now that they're fighting, everyone is picking Mayweather. Seriously, how many guys do you think Mayweather would be the betting underdog against from MW on down?

    Let's go down the list.

    Kostya Tsyzu
    Shane Mosley
Oscar De La Hoya (In his prime)
    Felix Trinidad
    Winky Wright
Ike Quartey - (Part time fighter) :good
    Fernando Vargas
    Miguel Cotto
    Antonio Margarito
    Vernon Forrest
    Paul Williams

That's alot of names left out there that could've been had. Not saying he's solely to blame for any of these fights not materializing. But let's be honest, many of these fights could've been made. Particularly Cotto, and Margarito. Hell, Arum was fighting Cotto on Floyd's undercard setting up a potential Cotto/Mayweather fight.

Being privy to how HBO approaches these fighters I know Floyd didn't want these fights and didn't want to move up until he had De La Hoya. That's my beef. If he'd taken the risk and moved up and fought one of these guys then he could've settled business. After defeating De La Hoya he still didn't pursue any tough matchups. He then started calling on junior welters and lightweights mixed in with his retirement.
