To be fair mate there are a lot of people who have looked fantastic against Jason Thomas, Anthony Hanna or Borov...Thomas is hardly Chuvalo in the chin department.

fair enough, but his finish of jason thomas was powerful. I am not saying KO wins make anyone a world beater at this level right now, but it was an extremely clinical finish of him

    Agreed, Gasman :deal

Definitely time for Martin to move onto European level. After his last performance he would, as you say, outbox Simpson all night. Martin is a quality counterpuncher, Simpson is made for him.

People seem to forget, although Simmo has some losses on his record I reckon he was shafted on nearly all of them.

Andy Morris did beat him, but got smashed twice after that.

Dazzo Williams got a very close decision ,but it was a gimmee, totally robbed

Derry Matthews again very close on the score cards but there was only one winner and it wasnt him

Foster and Paul Appleby were that close it could have gone either way.

No-one has come close to dominating, hurting, or laying a beating on wee Simmo, I dont see Smith being the guy to do it. Tail between the legs after this one for the englishman. Cmon Simpson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

I'm not saying that Smith won't be a world beater, my point is that it is difficult/impossible to judge how classy he is based on his level of opposition so far...9 fighters have done exactly the same thing to Thomas as Smith did.

No way will Lindsay be too strong, he might outbox Simpson but he won't strongarm him. Lindsay and Simpson are my two favourite fighters at the moment and i'm gutted that we might not see them in the ring together

I do agree with you ice, but clearly there is something there based on how decorated he was in the am's, and also based on how far above his opponents he has looked so far.
I don't think anyone can say for sure a 10 fight prospect is a world class fighter, but based on his form so far, i don't think we can deny, in the particualr division he is in, he is defo top 3-4 domestic

I do get what you mean, but for me you can see the difference between Smith and just another domestic prospect. Obviously he is not as expirienced as Simpson, but he is not your typical 9 fight novice. He has been in every amateur tournement bar the Olympics.

to those saying he should maybe fight a Truscott or Bhatia first, pretty sure he already beat them in the ams.

He throws every punch in the book, perfect timeing, fast hands. nothing he does is rushed and he is always in the perfect position to land shots when attacking and not get hit in defence. he only gets hit when taking a risk to score a KD. The word to sum him up is classy.

I accept everyones points and I guess we will just have to wait until fight time where I honestly believe that Smith will find himself in very deep water...he seems like a nice, well spoken kid, (a rarity amongst scousers :hi: )so good luck to him :deal
