both white hopes, both glass jaws, and they are both power punchers. cooney Is taller, heavier, and has a longer reach, but in my opinion ingo had more skill and he had the better career. seriously, the best win of Cooney's career is his first round knockout versus A washed up Ken Norton. Ingo's is a TKO victory versus Floyd Patterson, after knocking him down many times. he also beat Eddie machen in a first round KO.
anything could happen, but I'll take ingo in this one, by 8th round knockout.

Ingo by a 2nd round ko. The bingo would find it's mark before the Cooney left hook.

Ingo was kod by left hooks, Cooney was undone by Holmes right, both punches are the best shot of their opponent.Neither took much of punch, both were essentially one handed ,using their jabs only as range finders.Whoever lands first ,and it could be a trilogy like Ingo's with Floyd.
    Toss up.

you're right, it's impossible to predict this one because either man could get smoked as they both have glass chins.
don't you think that Ingo had the better career and was the better fighter though?

Yes I would agree with that.Cooney had potential but lacked self belief and I dont think he was schooled very well, his head was straight up waiting to be hit,no movement, but he gave Holmes a fair go , imo.

Ingo was faster, more experienced and sneakier at his best. We saw with Machen and Sanders that he could stay away and patiently wait for an appropriate opening for his right. Gerry's hook didn't have remotely the same speed Patterson's had. Of course Cooney had the power to take Johansson out, and Ingo would have known that as well. Gerry never stopped anybody beyond the eighth round. Ingo didn't just stop Erskine in 13, he piled up a huge points lead in the process, and Joe had some quality 15 round experiences under his belt. (Erskine would outpoint Pastrano a year later.) At some point, Ingo's right would knock Cooney silly, and Gerry didn't have the survival skills to outlast the follow up attack.
