dunne wouldve outboxed him m8 he wouldnt have been caught on the ropes like that chap and i reckon dunne had the power to get his respect aswell
ya i think the same aswel but would hav been some hype over it if it happened! i hate when these domestic fights never get made like i bet barker will never fight lee and it would be a huge fight!
I hate to say this but I think Munroe might have beat Dunne. From tonight's Terrazas-Munroe fight, I initially thought Terrazas looked the stronger and bigger man but Munroe is very deceptive he just overpowered him. I am not so confident that Dunne could have outboxed him - pity this fight didnt happen
I agree Dunne is by far the most skillfull of the 2 but had a bad tendency to get all macho forget his skills and go to war.If he did that against Munroe he would get in all kinds of trouble.
Giuseppe Lauri won his tune-up for McCloskey by first round stoppage tonight. Mind you the journeyman he was up against wasn't of a great standard and usually fights at around Super-Feather. Ferenc Szabo who fought Paulie Hyland in his 3rd fight for anyone that might be interested. I couldn't see Munroe beating Dunne. Even if lets say Dunne didn't stick to the gameplan and got dragged into a war because he was able to hit Munroe at will. If things started going wrong he'd have plenty of time to go back to boxing again. Despite the stoppage win tonight Munroe is not a big puncher by any means and I don't think he'd trouble Dunne with his power even if he landed frequently. The only way Dunne would lose is if he gassed terribly late on, but in his latter days of conditioning with McGurn I couldn't see that. Munroe is very limited but has really made the most of what he's got. Nishioka will show him up for what he is though. If anyone really is that concerned that Bernard would of lost to Munroe they should probably watch the Maludrottu fight again and they'll come to their senses. Bernard may have been chinny but he'd never lose to a fighter like Munroe.
he is confident but knows nothing about this fight but is going to investigate it today. anyway got a good interview with him yesterday and will send an article over to ib.com as soon as the computer is up and running also have a short video for youtube.
I thought I would be a wee bit mischievious last night with that Munroe observation - surprised I didnt get jumped on by more! In all seriousness though, and bearing in mind this is a bit of a taboo subject for a few, I wouldnt just dismiss Munroe out of hand. He would have a great chance against Bernard, if he performed like he did last night. He was shite in his previous outing. The thing that impressed me most about Munroe last night was his toughness, similarly to that relentless toughness that Simpson has. That is why I dont see Poonswat walking Munroe down in a few rounds, and he handled Martinez pretty well - those are two further reasons - for giving him some credence against a fight with Dunne. I dont see him beating the Japanese kid but he deserves his shot.
Why? I like Munroe, just because his manager spoke a load of poo about Dunne doesn't mean I have to dislike him. He does really well for a relatively limited boxer, he is humble and he works his arse off. I hope he beats Nishioka, doubt he will though.
Dunne should have taken the 200k Maloney was offering to face Munroe before his Mandatory.. That would have been a great fight.. If Munroe won the world title do you think Bernard would be tempted to put the gloves on again???Imagine that in the O2
i think bernard could be getting itchy feet last night watching that if munroe wins his world title which is unlikley imo he could be thinking of one big last night in the o2 i thought munroe was much better last night then he has been but is still quite limited , dunne would outbox him and wouldnt be caught on the ropes like terrasaz was
