I remember watching an interview with Montoya saying he and Kessler were working on things he hadn't been doing lately. I don't imagine Kessler is going to show some nice head movement tomorrow, so what do you think they worked on?

    Footwork? Lateral movement? Defense?

Hooks and uppercuts. Kessler does these things very, very well. But he hasnt used them lately. The same goes for liver shots. He has decked several opponents using that earlier in his career.
Also, Kessler is left handed. We might see him throwing more power shots with his left hand.

I've been watching some Kessler fights and another thing I came up with is he used to feint and I don't recall him feinting in the last 2 fights, think he worked on that as well?

Yeh his uppercuts are solid and when he gets to throwing 3 to 4 punch combos moreso than his 1-2 he looks great.

I hope he'll feint some more. Should be pretty effective against an opponent who defends with his hands down the side. What I really hope is that he has sharpened his left hook. That will come in handy, when Froch fails with his right. Same goes for Kessler's left to the body.

I hope they worked with the left hand a lot! Taylor could not miss Froch with left hands. Kessler does not have JT's hand speed, but you don't need lightening speed to hit Froch, and Kessler hits a lot harder than Jermain ever did.

That was the first thing that popped into my head after reading the thread title as far as what they SHOULD have worked on. Why can't you see it happening tomorrow? It would serve him very well against Froch, and you're probably right, I'm just curious why. Do you think he'd just be a tiger trying to change his stripes?

Exactly. He's just been fighting so long without it I just think even if they did work on it with a fight of this magnitude he'd abandon it anyways. I think they'd just want to shore up some of the things he's done well in the past but hadn't been doing well...like his footwork...he's never been great with his footwork, but his footwork was solid against Andrade and his footwork has been dreadful of late, but since he's done it before it'd be easier to pick up.

100% agreed. Footwork is probably his biggest advantage over Froch (or could be, at least), aside from throwing much straighter punches.

He used to have good footwork, but in the last fights he has looked like he had lead in his feet.

As i stated in an other thread:

"Seems Kessler and his new trainer has worked on the inside game. Watch the short low left hook to the kidney / liver area late in the video...................."

Froch is a sitting duck for uppercuts. If Mikkel invests in that punch he'll get a stoppage.

As stated in an other thread:

Re: Kessler - "I´ll knock him out in round 2"

"Kessler has to do an "Andrade performance". Footwork is the key. Jabs and 2-4 combinations. Then keep clear under pressure. One step back and to the sides, one step back and to the sides. Froch will be out of balance and then ....... again fast 2-4 combinations. If Kessler begins to go strait backwards................:huh"
