Thanks for going to the trouble mate. Well, you can see my card for yourself. We went a different way on a couple, but it was a close fight with many close rounds, so I have no quarrel with anyone who went a different way (except Lederman for giving the last round to Pac - what was he on??) Monzon was indeed the baddest ass the middleweight division ever did see.
Marquez-Pacquiao II Round 1 JMM 10-9 Round 2 JMM 10-9 Round 3 Manny 10-8 Round 4 EVEN Round 5 JMM 10-9 Round 6 Manny 10-9 Round 7 JMM 10-9 Round 8 JMM 10-9 (That round was so one sided it should of been 10-8 for JMM) Round 9 Manny 10-9 Round 10 Manny 10-9 Round 11 JMM 10-9 Round 12 JMM 10-9 7 rounds to 4 or even 5 for Manny JMM won this fight. It was close, but JMM was the clear winner.
I had the second fight 114-113 for Juan but a draw was probably the best result given that Manny did score the only knock down and Juan only gets a 1pt win on my card by taking all three of the closest rounds. If even one of those three rounds is scored 10-10 then it's a draw and if Manny gets the nod on one he gets the 114-113 win. The other rounds were easy decisions I thought. I had Manny winning rounds 1, 3-4, 9-10 with Juan taking the rest. I had first fight 114-111 for Manny. Manny won rounds 1-2, 7, 9, 10, and 12 and with 3 knock downs should have had an easy 3pt win. I thought the only hard to score rounds in this fight were 8 and 9 and gave 8 to JMM and 9 to Manny. Manny absolutely deserves his win and draw against JMM in my opinion. The results of each fight are wrong but the end result on his record is correct.
Even with the judges mistake in the first fight JMM did one of the greatest comebacks in boxing history and fairly should of gotten a draw because he owned Pacman pretty bad in that fight. In the rematch the judges got it backwards and gave it to Pac. Great fights either way.
Team Pacquiao wanted that 2nd fight at 135 but didn't get it. Pac looked sluggish that night against JMM, especially after putting on 16 pounds for fight night. I heard making 135 was also a struggle against David Diaz.
Unfortunately I havn't got a score card to post...I have watched and scored this bout about three times now, and everytime I havn't given Pacquiao the decision. It was a close bout...I had Marquez winning by 1 or 2 rounds. I even thought that one of the mid-latter rounds could have been a 10-8 in Marquez's favour (if I remember rightly), I didn't score that particular round a 10-8...yet I still had Marquez winning by a round or two. I havn't got time to rewatch and score this bout at the minute...but when I do, I will post my scorecard.
That means you give Morales some dredit because he drained himself for the second and third fight, El Terrible was in cruise control in the second one until the weight drained cought on him
I think my scores were very similar to yours, I've always thought that whoever won the 1st round wins the fight because I've noticed that for a lot of the scores posted here, it's usually the 1st round where the opinions differ. Some gave it to Marquez because he landed the hardest shots in the round, others gave it to Pac because he landed more. A draw seems fair to be honest but it really depends on what you like. In the end, it was a really great and tactical fight with the momentum swinging both ways through out the fight. Too bad it's overshadowed by the bickering people do over the scores. Personally I wouldn't argue with people having it a draw, or giving it to Pac or Marquez because it was really close. The only thing that gets on my nerves is when people say that Pac was "schooled" in this fight.
I've really, really enjoyed watching, scoring and discussing these two fights again. Props to both Manny and JMM for producing two of the best fights of the 2000s.
