Half the fighters who entered the Super Six have lost their 0

I dont think many similar tournaments will happen in the future anyway. Its great but its all too dependent on people not retiring, getting bad injuries etc.

 

I think Ward will lose to Abraham. He's a little chinny and tends to lean in when he gets close, driving his head in. I see Abraham timing him in the middle rounds and smashing him up.

But, I love that fighters are losing. It's not that you lose, it's HOW you lose that counts.

Who the fcuk wants to see Amir Khan defend his title for the next 10 years against fighters we know he's going to beat?

The beauty of this tourney is that no one gets frozen out by losing.

Dirrel lost to Froch and got a world title shot in his hometown as his next fight. Kessler loses to Ward and gets a title shot on his home turf in his next fight.

Abraham and Froch both lose then face off aginst each other, with the winner most likely getting a title shot in their next fight.

One word: Awesome.

 

Where has this nonsense come from? Abraham didn't have a title.

Point still stands though. No one frozen out by losing. No one building up a 'legacy' by making 20 defences against fighters you know they're going to beat.

 

I agree, mate. I couldn't care less about Abraham losing to Dirrell, or Froch losing to Kessler or Kessler losing to Ward. All have a chance to come back and prove themselves.

This is Kessler's swansong as an elite SMW. He either needs to go to 175 or retire after the tournament. I think the weight's taking it out of him along with hard fights.

Froch will probably retire after the tournament, with millions on the bank account and a great resume.

Abraham's going to be kicking a lot of ass in his next fights.

Ward's going to lose, either to Abraham or Froch. He beats Dirrell though.

Dirrell's going to lose to Ward, but go on to hold titles at LHW I'd guess.

No one cares about Green.

 

That's what makes it great and it exposes the fallacy of he 0.

We get style match ups, let alone hard ones, fights that promoters would never let their assets into.

Who seriously cares about the 0 anyway?

 

Ya thats a savage statistic.

The tide keeps turning as well, fighters who look down and out come back to redeem themselves (Dirrell & Kessler), fighters who have an aura of invincibility around them get humbled by another fighter (Kessler & Abraham)

I really hope this is successful in getting casual fans interested because I think this is great for boxing.

If we had something like this in every division, an ongoing thing, then we'd have no hype jobs. We'd know exactly how good each fighter is, and a constant supply of great fights.

 

Its not saving our sport, or puting it back in the main stream.

Badly advertise, not many people understand the concept.

Fair enough, for us boxing fans its good. But for the sport as a whole, and what the sport really needs, insted of being stubborn and ignoring the **** its in..............

Its done nothing..

There will not be any other tournaments like this again..

 

The tournament is just too long and complicated. They should just have 4 fighters in a knockout tournament. If the promoters want more guaranteed money fights before risking it you could have the losing semi-finalists meeting and the winner of that taking on the tournament winner in his first defence.

 

Super 6 is the best thing to happen to boxing for years.

It's a great tournament, sure it's got it's flaws, but it's seeing the top fighters fighting the top fighters, in close matched & difficult to predict fights, and losing isn't setting you back that much.

Likes of tonight, I've witnessed a great fight, and tbh, I'm sad one had to lose as both men earned massive respect. However the loser has the chance to pick himself up in his next fight.

 

Its no shock to me because this is how boxing always used to be, test yourself against the best. The magical "0" is what has ruined boxing
