    So what?

Being undefeated is overated if you are fighting bums, big deal hes got 0, it won't last when he faces the top guys in the division after the super six.

I think it's safe to say Bute would probably lose against at least 1-2 of the guys in the Super6. Same cane be said about pretty much everyone in the Super6. That's was my point.

Bute is potentially the best at 168 but he needs to prove it by stepping up his competition. He has not been in those deep waters yet.

I won't even bother to read the first post.

No such thing as best till he fights guys in the tournament, beating Miranda and Andrade is nothing. Both these guys have been fried by guys in the tournament anyway.

Bute COULD be the best at 168 but so far he's proved nothing. Sure he was outstanding versus medium quality competition but he needs a convincing win versus Hopkins or a win against a Super 6 opponent before claiming he is the best. His career is genuinely managed so he grows and win versus lesser opponents. You can really see his abilities going upwards though, he's got great potential and a amazing talent. As of now, the winner of the super 6 has got to fight versus Bute. Abraham or Ward could result in a loss though. He's gotta keep this level of boxing up and improve his stamina.

I'm no Boxing expert though, really just a casual fan that follows SMW division closely so take it for what its worth. Glad Froch lost though as I don't really like the blind fanatism of his fans in the UK.

I would see Ward vs Bute. For me the best guys this division.

You're the only one it seems who actually read the entire post, and read between the lines. You're more of an expert than anyone else who responded to the OT.

I agree Froch is average but Froch is fighting on a whole different level of competition to Bute so its obvious he will be involved in much tougher competative fights.

    Kessler
    Dirrell
    Taylor
    Pascal

And fighting Arthur Abraham next up

Bute - Joppy, Andrade x 2, Zuniga, Miranda

Let's see...in terms of ability? No, he's not the best. In terms of achievements, resume? Nope.

Everyone is undefeated until they fight someone good. Ward, Abraham, Froch, Dirrell were all undefeated going into the tournament. You have to give credit more to guys who are actually fighting at the highest level and the guys in the S6 are doing just that.

Don't really know the details but had Bute been available ( as he wanted to take Andrade back ) he would've fought Froch or anyone in the S6. Claiming otherwise would be speculation. You know boxing is a business and Showtime probably didn't want Bute aboard.

I must admit though that all these hometown fights are ruining a bit of his credibility. But in my knowledge, Ward and Froch were hometown fighters before the S6 started.

Circumstances have disrupted any chances for Bute to get any top SMW opponent 'till S6 finishes. Well....my outsider's perspective on things.

It don't matter if he wanted to or not. That's like saying an unproven contender is the best at their weight. You can't be the best until you beat the best.

Even looking at tapes though, Bute is nothing special. And to say that he is the best according to the OP is a bit of a stretch.

It is between Kessler and Bute IMO and in most "expert" opinion's.

I agree with you when you say Bute is unproven and not the best at its weight 'til he's faced top competition. All of Bute's potential could be exposed or destroyed versus a top class opponent like Ward, Kessler or Abraham. The OP is in the wrong claiming he his the best at 168 and even a casual fan like me can see it.

You can't dismiss him though as he his the IBF SMW champion and he's shown a lot of potential. I think he's something special, he's got the talent and the hitting power to get where his ambitions are set.

Bute is a must-fight to the Super 6 winner and might end up getting all the praises or the boos. Let's see. Super Middle Weight is very interesting as of now. Even brings hockey fans into the mix. :thumbsup

Bute and Jean Pascal fan here.
