I think the arguement could made that Dirrell ran a good portion of that fight. Which I disagree with, by the way. I actually thought Direll won that fight, but this fight was much more competitive type of a war. Either fighter in this fight could have been seen as actually deserving the win whereas the Dirrell fight was judged mostly on ring generalship. Let's face it, anyone that has any true sense of ring generalship over Froch (i.e. Dirrell or Ward) is going to get a huge advantage over someone who is awkward and is generally thought to have little ring generalship such as Froch. Therefore, in that case, I can say it's pretty safe to say that Froch was handed a gift in his win over Dirrell.

Froch beat Kessler. No wonder Ward refused to fight in the tournament unless he got "all" his fights in his home town.

 

The biggest surprise of the fight was that Froch is slicker than people (including me) give him credit for. He showed some good defense and movement, and punched from some unusual angles. I thought Kessler won, but only by a round or two.

 

Agreed. Froch has a serious jab that I never paid attention to before. And he has a really awkward shoulder roll type defense that screams Floyd Jr. He showed me a lot of talent tonight that I never gave him credit before. Plus his ring confidence and warrior mentality is second to none. Froch is one bad dude. Plus, it turns out that's he's not so much of a bad guy after all.

 

I'll have to agree with a previous poster that while I thought Froch lost the fight by a very close margin he earned a ton of respect. He took a ton of big shots, he has chin, he has heart, he didn't show any fear nor was he running for safety when trading toe-to-toe. I think for most of the time the fight was even, just Kessler was busier overall and his defense was just a tad better.

Froch may have lost this point by a small margin but he won many new fans IMO, especially outside of Britain.

I favor Froch over Abraham. He should win that fight and get into the semi-finals.

 

IMHO Kessler won but it was close.If Froch had applied more pressure we'd have seen a KO for Froch. Kessler looked very shaky many times.

Yes, Froch lost, but earned more respect than in his other fights combined...

However - the few rapid cry-babies that keep making threads trying to make it a controversy, are hurting Froch. I like Froch and I think he did better than I had ever seen him do, but I almost wish he loses to AA because of these cry-babies.

 

Totally agree I felt if Froch had pressured Kessler, he would have won that fight! Kessler was coming off second best when they actually exchanged. Kessler admitted, when he was drawn in to fighting Froch's fight, he said that was costing him some rounds. Froch just didn't capitalize. He did show a good defense though, he didn't get tagged as much as it seemed, he was slipping quite a few shots and getting off some counters. Yeah anyone who thinks Abraham would whip Froch are being over confident. Froch has the ability to hurt Abraham, and being at home, it's advantage Froch.

When I first watched the fight on a stream I though Froch won too, but after watching on television it was clear that many of the shots that I thought landed didn't. This was a very close fight and I don't have a problem with either man winning.

 

The one thing everyone will agree on is that was a great fight ! Those 2 guys added instant interest and more credibility to the Super 6.

I think it could have gone either way from a range of 115-113.

I was really surprized how good Froch's jab was for the most part of the night but when I see this guy standing there with his hands down, I just can't believe it every time... He's one tough SOB ! That chin is somethin' else and probably even has Margarito feelin' humble about his.

I actually think Abraham's in trouble if Froch can keep him on the back foot.
