JG two great picks...Lou Ambers was a great lighweight, who is so underated today...Ambers gave the prime Henry Armstrong all he could handle...Ambers was as good an infighter that I ever saw on film...My dad picked up Ambers in his cab at MSG,after Lew Jenkins kod the past peak Ambets in 1941...
Harold Green was a hell of a fighter from my old neighberhood...I.as a kid saw young Harold Green ko'd by my then idol Johnny Greco at MSG..He rebounded from that ko...I saw him in MSG against Rocky Greaziano in a war...Then in 1950 at Eastern Pkwy Arena I watched Harold Green flatten young up and comer Joey Giardello,in the sixth round wit a perfect left hook...Green's dad and my dad worked together....Ah, memories I can recall...b.b.

Gutierrez' record can be mis-leading as he competed well past his sell-by date. He was pretty much done by '72. He was still fairly young but an old fighter by then. For one simple reason, he was absolutey the fastest thing I had ever seen. I don't mean footwork, but handspeed was a blur. His peak was from about '69 through '71 and he had a lot more fights on his record than what boxrec shows. Those Mexican records are very hard to follow. My old Ring record book shows quite a few more but without the names (they gave a numerical record prior to his bout with Julio Guerrero). Anyways, the kind of speed he demonstrated will burn you out fast, not to mention the amount of bouts he had at a young age. I saw his bouts against Felix Marquez, Erbito Sallavarria, Fernando Cabanela and unfortuantely, Superfly Sandoval, in which he was just a shadow of himself. Beating the reigning champ Sallavarria was something. I was a kid and couldn't believe the speed. I told my Dad about him when Gutierrez was scheduled to fight Cabanela and he too was impressed, although Cabanela had the range on him that night. Trusting my baby blues, Gutierrez was really something. I would imagine being Ruben Olivares chief sparring partner also took a toll on him.

Soo-Hwan Hong is an underrated Bantam from the '70s era.Not the most talented ever, but a good jack of all trades fighter who was in some awesome fights.

Ruined the career of young prodigy Hector Carrasquilla in an upset and lost an apparently very controversial and classic fight against Zamora in their rematch.Wish some footage of that one would emerge.
