Currently writing an article about it, anyone know of any decent sources with some good quotes from people involved in boxing? Just watched 'Assault In The Ring', but I'd like to know if anybody who fights/promotes today still talks about it. It's an amazing (if bleak) story, but one that is rarely known outside of boxing. Also, any of you got an opinion I can steal?
I would contact the producer of "Assault in the Ring" and see if there's anyone whose opinion you absolutely need or if there was some person/opinion that they had to trim out for time.
Yeah, I'm just looking to make it a little bit more contemporary, rather than just writing an article about a fight 30 years ago
What are you trying to convey through your article? Assault in the ring did a pretty good job in terms of narrating the events and having the thoguhts of the people involved in the incident. I think people would be interested in knowing how the Collins are doing these days. On a side note, boxing does not need people like Panama Lewis and Margarito and everyine involve with that sort of cheating. Boxing is a dangerous enough sport and everytime a fighter steps in the ring, they put their life on the line. They do not need malicious people to put them in a greater danger. I truly believe that once a fighter is caught cheating, he should be banned from the sport of boxing forever whether it is as a boxer, a trainer or a promoter. Here is the reason why. These guys can easily cause damage to a boxer to the point where he cannot fight anymore or just not the same. And this is their livelyhood. So suspending the cheaters for a one year or so does not do it i think bc they can come back and fight on and make a living through fighting while their victims cannot. I think the commissions should get on that. Sorry i went on and on about this. Maybe you can add some of this to your article. By the way, I would love to read it. Cheers.
