I'm I the only one who thought the Froch vs Kessler fight was overrated?

I'm I the only one who thought the Kessler fight was overrated? I didn't even finish watching the fight, to me the fight lacked the sweet science of boxing. On one end was an overrated guy who hoped everytime he threw a weak job that had no pop to it. Froch also threw wild hooks and off balance right crosses. Kessler is past his prime because he should of been landing the right hand over froch's week jab all night, also with Froch keeping his head down and week head movement Kessler should of been landing the 1, 2 all night.

I'm not dissing this because they are tough fighters with a lot of heart, and are always in top shape. Although Froch has a tough chin he lacks skill, and with Kessler on the down side of his career this fight sucked as they missed with off balance punches all night.

The media and boxing critics are acting like this was Haglar vs Hearns, but this was far from it. Take a few minutes out of your day to watch that classic fight and u tell me the difference.

When it's all said, and done I watch boxing for the skills, if I wanted to see sloppy drunk punches I would order MMA fights. Mayweather gets a lot of slack for being boring on EB, but I would of rather watched any Mayweather fight (except him and Oscar) before I had watched this mega street fight.

Watch a couple rounds with the volume off so you're not influenced by the crowd and commentators and weigh in.

I agree 100%, I found the fight boring and sloppy. A slugfest where neither guy was displaying skills or looking like they might knock out the other. I honestly enjoyed Jones v Hopkins 2 more than this fight.

The fact that you probably didn't see the last rounds, makes me understand your post just a little.
Fact that it wasn't 'the sweet science' what you call it doesn't make it less attractive. Mostly it makes it even more exiting, because they are actually punching eachother and hard! A whole lot more exiting than Froch - Dirrell imo, with a running and spoiling Andre making it into a stinker.
My advise to you... Watch the last rounds, and then post again.

If you didn't finish the fight then you missed why many are raving about it.

This was nice fight for boxing fans , big war . But for me Kessler is done - past prime. Ward and Dirrell clearly better boxer than Froch/Kessler.

Yeah I kind of agree. It was too wild and sloppy and they missed far too often for it to be a really great fight. And to me Kessler looks too uncomfortable with his new approach i.e. head and lateral movement and not going backwards, for him to display his best talents. But it was definately the latter part of the fight that made it spectacular. Two guys realising it's close and the gravity of the situation and throwing caution to the wind, putting everything on the line and giving it everything they've got is ****ing brilliant to watch.

    No I'm with you dude.

The beginning and middle were pretty boring to watch. The completer lack of skill didn't help either, as the wild swings made it unpretty to say the least. It was only the last few rounds that stood out, as both guys were bleeding, exhausted and falling all over the place like drunks whilst slugging it out.

But yeah, it was embarrassing when you compare it to scientists like Mayweather, Hopkins, JMM etc

I totally agree. I thought it was sloppy, and was not as toe to toe as people make out.

The way people were going on about how great it was actually made me doubt my love for the sport of boxing. I am glad someone else agrees.

Even to me the Final round which (which i have heard a commentater is like a rocky film) Actually didnt impress me because they were swinging wildly and missing. Yes they showed tons of heart, and i respect them both but i honestly just wasnt impressed with the fight.

I think this is because i like boxers like boxers to be technically sound and have "text book" styles, but Froch and Kessler are not like this. I really cant stand how Froch fights with his hands down, and his footwork is poor.

    Just my opinion though

although it was sloppy rarely you get two guys at a higher caliber going all out, exhausted and all, until the final bell.

I care about the sport, the skills, the tactics. I don't give a **** how tough a guy is or how much heart he has, that doesn't inspire me, top skills and athleticism inspire me.

If they are in the ring they are fighting aren't they?? Just because a guy doesn't want to get hit doesn't mean he has no heart, it means he's intelligent and doesn't have to put his head on the line just to prove he's got balls to a bunch of fans who don't give a **** about them after they've stepped away from the ring.
