I'm I the only one who thought the Froch vs Kessler fight was overrated?

As I said in another post: medium quality fight.
For those who like blood and punches from the backyard that hardly touch the target ... I can admit that the fight can be viewed as exciting.

 

It was a Gatti-like war, and a great fight.
I liked it, but i also like more tactical and technical fights.

It was not a Rocky-like comeback from Kessler, but he proved that he still got some left in the tank.
A lot of media and experts had called Kessler done, and said that his heart wasent in the game no more. He proved them wrong. He might be at the end, but he did show that he could still fight. And wanted to become champion once again.

 

It was a quality fight. Maybe a FOTYC, the last couple of rounds pushed it from good to great if you ask me. I really don't get people complaining when guys go out there and actually fight rather than box, sure I appreciate boxing skills but a good tear up like that doesn't happen all that often and it's a nice change of pace from more measured contests. It's like the mentality "oh sure, they're throwing non stop punches are trying to take each others heads off but the right cross wasn't from a text book position so therefore this sucks" seems a bit over analysing to me, like sitting there looking for reasons not to have fun.

 

Maybe you prefer watching boxing on the US Seniors Circuit featuing great fights between Borenard, Stinky Wright, Jones and Tarver?

 

No not always! I've seen a lot of technical fighters without heart! Take Herbie Hide for example, big hitter (why I liked him), fast, technical for a HW, but no heart whatsoever!
Andre Direll vs Froch was another... It wasn't only he didn't wanted to get hit, he looked afraid to get hit, that's a huge difference! At least he learned from that in the AA bout.
I take brawlers over them anytime...

 

It's dumb fighting, I find it boring. I like watching elite skills and intelligence, not two guys who could make simple adjustments and have alot more success. I don't care for 'fighting', I like boxing and I consider it a sport not a fight. Anyone can have heart, who ****ing cares.

Well if he is afraid to get hit and still gets into the ring with thousands of people watching the performance then I would've thought that is an example of heart. The whole toughness thing is just bull**** for insecure males, most boxing fans aren't fans of the sport.

You have got to be kidding me. That has got to be one of the worst fights of all time. I am still pissed off I wasted 3gig of my internet bandwidth to watch those pensioners in that joke of a fight.

 

You give fight fans a fight where one guy is doing more running than fighting.... and they complain about it.

You give fight fans a fight were two guys are standing and fighting.... and the complain about it too.

Go figure.

There might be a handful of people who didn't appreciate Froch v Kessler. But, for the sake of the health of the sport of boxing, you people are thankfully the minority. People want to watch exciting fights. They want to see the drama of life lived out in a boxing ring: the back and forth warring between two people. One person starting to lose only to find that internal switch to help them rise to the level.
