I'm I the only one who thought the Froch vs Kessler fight was overrated?

That's a fair enough explanation in my opinion. However, you must surely realise that other boxing fans also enjoy watching fights where both boxers are giving it 100%, in every single round, and constantly looking to knock the other guy out. It's still boxing, but it's a lot more exciting to some people, than watching a guy on the back foot for 12 rounds jabbing and moving with his opponent chasing him around the ring all night (Froch v Dirrell).

I'd prefer to see a guy give 100% by using every last bit of his intelligence and using every trick he has to gain an advantage and take the KO if he manages to set it up. From my perspective getting into a slugfest is not giving 100%, that's being too lazy/dumb to strategise and act in a way that will give you an advantage. If a boxer is constantly looking to knock another guy out he is setting himself up for a beating, that's dumb.

Dont turn this into another US vs Europe thing, maybe that was the agenda of the treadstarter who knows? He didnt even watch the intire fight:patsch

I can appreciate Dirells and Mayweathers style of boxing, and i dont find it boring, not always anyway..

Put the Kessler fight into the right perspective..Where did he come from, what did the critics say before the fight, and where would he be if he had lost..

I agree... fight was way to sloppy for my taste... I mean it was so ugly... Didn't seem like they were setting each other up.. didn't seem like there was much foot work or technicalities to the fight...

was just two guys slugging at each other until the other one would drop... rhythm was horrid..

fight was ok but wasn't amazing imo

You guys are soooo right I would much rather watch guys backpedalling , faking low blows , falling over when someone gets close to them , rabbit punching , crying to the ref , headbutting. Ah, the sweet science !

For comparing LaMotta and Marciano to Froch or the skill-level displayed in this fight. Those guys were definitely skilled, although it may appear subtle especially with the picture quality. This is what the Brits do though. Try making comparisons about past ATG fighters that fought with guts and heart. But in reality, the skill level is not comparable.

I'll except the Gatti idea, but he could show more skills if he refrained from brawling.

All that is nice, but there comes a time when two elite fighters square off and they need to dig deep to dig out the win.

Thats what this fight turned out to be, as Kessler held a higher work rate, and Froch was being bombarded to the body, both guys tired a bit late and had to put thier heart on the line with bombs.

This was a super middleweight classic, much like Kessler - Calzaghe.
