Ruiz was 3-3 in his last six going in, I am pretty sure Haye didn't retire him, Haye just did what a young title holder should to a past it belt holder.

One of the worst fights of my life is when Golota didn't finish the cockroach. He had him down twice early in the fight, but let up in the 2nd half & let Ruiz keep his title.

I was at the Garden for that fight & felt like puking after it was over!:tired

look at some of you taking the **** out of ruiz, well let me tell you one thing, he might not be the most entertaining heavyweight, but the guy fought the best that he could possibly fight. fought holyfield twice. fought jones. fought toney. fought golota. fought haye. fought valuev twice. the guy just fights whoever you put him in the ring with.

jones came up to heavyweight, beat ruiz, then didn't want none of lewis. lewis would of ****ed him up.

I wish him the best in his life after boxing. I admired the fact that he was fighting with heart and he was giving everything on the ring. He was never afraid...

I never really heard of Ruiz until the Roy Jones fight. When I heard that he took the fight with no hesitation, I really respected that. Jones didn't do any promotion really with the fight so John didn't get as much as he could have financially, but he took his beating like a man.

I admired the fact that he continued on even when it seemed everyone disliked his style. The man had heart and some level of skill. HOFer? Probably not, but definitely someone who needs to be mentioned as one of the top fighters of the 2000-2008 era.

look at the guys resume. he might not of been talented, but he fought whoever he could fight.

regarding the zero business part, john ruiz was haye's mandatory.

i dont think you have ever heard of boxing until a few hours ago from youtube. one of the top fighters of 2000-2008?:lol::lol:

    14 fights from 2000-2008

    he won 7

    7 fights he actually won

    Jamile McCline with 8 Losses
    Otis Tisdale with 18 losses

the last fights he actually won which he gets credit

    Rahman in 2003
    Johnson in 2002
    Holyfield in 2001
