Does Carl need to change his style/box differently to beat Abraham

Does Carl need to change his style for example box Abraham,hold his hands up or is he capable of beating Abraham with a similar style to that which he beat Pascal,Taylor,Dirrell?

 

I think its too late for Carl to change his boxing style. He defiantly does need to keep his hands higher though. He is getting hit far too much.

 

He just needs to go to the body and then the headshots will come.

 

Dont think he needs to change but he wouldn't anyway, I do wish that he would stop using his chin to block shots though. Body shots will be the key to beating AA, Dirrell hurt him a few times and Froch is a harder hitter IMO, Abraham will pretend there low however.

 

I think if Froch boxes cleverly builds up a good cushion in the early rounds as you would expect of an AA fight then he has the tools to survive the onslaught from Abraham. If he defends like he did on Sat however he could get ko'd, saying that he is powerful enough to take Abraham out too. I just feel that when Abraham starts swinging if Froch can utilise a better defense whilst throwing in strong enough counters to dissuade Abraham from completely walking through him then he could easliy outpoint him. Im worried that thats not the Froch way though and when he takes a decent hit from AA he will fire back and that leaves him open to be caught and it turns it into a more pickem fight again

 

When Froch chooses to box he can be skillfull and masterfull at it , i think Abraham is so slow and predictable Froch will have an easy nights work if he chooses to box him , mix it up box , punch , get on his bike and stay unpredicatble i dont see why Froch cant shut Abraham out in a bore fest TBH .

He will have to worry about Abraham coming on late if he chooses to box him , and Abraham when facing a points defeat is a beast as we seen against AD , however knowing Froch he'll stand and bang with AA which will play into his hands and id see Abraham as slow and non technical as he is KO'ing Froch in this instance !!!!!

 

if froch can add 20-30% workrate to what he did against kessler, and build up a points lead up to about round 7-8, AA will then start coming looking for froch. If froch can have it about him to get in and out, and draw AA on then he is set for uppercut counters from froch.
I said in a previous thread froch could actually look quite good against AA, but he must work hard. But he can beat him if he utilises his underrated jab. He has good reach, and it has a bit of pop too, and can make people think twice about coming inside with him

 

Froch was knackered. He's not finding another 20%.

I do think he'll beat Abraham provided the fights not in Germany though.

 

Major worry is he launches in swinging for fences with hands wide and low. Arthur is explosive and accurate. Froch can box him early doors get some early rounds and look to bust body up bit by bit. But he cannot launch in like he has been doing, This fight needs total concentration and use of ring IQ.

There's only so much hammer a man can take. Froch is running himself through the mill far to much and his resistance will only decrease fighting on his chin each fight.

 

Froch is too good for Abraham, but his punch resistance is on the down, and he needs to look at defensive boxing much more, rather than relying on his iron clad chin the whole time to play the macho man.

 

He could do without launching his right hand and simultaneously stepping through into one of AA's big rights.

 

He needs to stay in his position with his feet and his hands no matter what style, approach, strategy or guard he chooses.

It was not funny how many times him and Kessler got wobbled, stunned etc because their balance and positioning was awful. They are very lucky their chins held up. 99% of fighters could not take shots like that when your base is so poor.

I would also like it if he held his left just a little higher. I've given up on wishing for it to be held properly. And I did miss that uppercut. I thought he was setting him up many times but nothing come of it.

 

He always needed to hold his hands up, he's proved he's seemingly incapable of defending himself with his hands down.

However we're probably pissing into the wind because the guy is 32 years old and its been suggested so many times and it hasn't changed. He's comfortable with it. He was asked on the ESB radio show and he said he won't be changing anything. So there you go.

 

I think Abraham could spark Froch out, I really do.

 

In fairness Froch's footwork and head movement have greatly improved from the flat footed, sitting duck from some of his earlier bouts. However the hands remain low.
