Tua was a legitimate top-flight contender, NOT a journeyman...even now for that matter.

Yep. Made a thread about him awhile ago after looking him up. Travelled from town to town and always gave the best a tough fight. Even put Esteban De Jesus down twice and lost a contenious decision.

Wasn't Fritzie Zivic considered a journeyman? If so I elect him.

No Fritzie Zivic became WW champion, so he was always a contender.. Years before,Zivic Broke the great Lou Ambers jaw in 1935..Zivic was always a contender..

Tiger Ted Lowry takes it for me - the ultimate journeyman hero - hanging in there with the Rock twice (the only man to do it) - not to mention also staying the distance with Archie Moore, Jimmy Bivins and Joey Maxim all for 10 rounds each, twice hanging with Lee Q Murray for 10 - one of the biggest punchers of the day, twice with Roland LaStarza, once with Tiger Jack Fox another deadly hitter, out-pointing Aaron Wade (!!), and holding contenders Lee Savold, Lee Oma and Cesar Brion to draws, and going 1-1-1 vs Bernie Reynolds, another one time title contender. He even got Joe Louis' respect during an exhibition too- what a guy!! Could probably teach most top level guys a thing or two these days
