    He is past prime

I though Kessler wil beat easly Froch , like Taylor in 1-7 rounds . Kessler is done after lose against Calzaghe, He was beast against Andrade and destroy this guy very easily - big punish

I agree on the Ward idea and the "new" Kessler/Montoya thing. But one thing I disagree with is how Ward supposedly is the new superduper invention in the sport.
In my mind he was extremely lucky to get away with the **** he was allowed to do against Kessler.

What happens when he isnt allowed to lead with his head and punch in the back of the neck, hold and punch etc?

I dont know. But one thing I know is that Dirrel has looked very impressive and is the much cleaner outside fighter. He is a pleasure to watch imo and more talented than Ward. I give Dirrel a good shot at beating Ward if there is a decent ref and neutral judges in that fight.

Ward is getting hyped but he has only beaten Miranda (UD) and Kessler via technical decision (cuts). Why on earth is he so hyped here on ESB?

I was not surprised ...because Ward before exposed Kessler

Kessler was always hyped up as an unbeatable force who would defeat anyone from 160 to 175 and theres no one that can deny this

he was mostly praised for "losing" to JC

i always knew he was nothing even close to that Undestructable image everyone had of him

and it was only a matter of time

Kessler isn't "overrated" or "past it"..he is the same fighter..just had tough match ups in both his losses..STILL A TOP 5 SMW

I dont think Kessler is past it but i think he is definatley on the slide.

He isnt overated though. Whilst he isnt or wasnt great he was a very good fighter in his prime.

It is quite simple, and I hate to sound radical, but the people who thinks that he just wasn't that good to begin with has not watched his fights prior to Calzaghe!

Watch the Andrade fight then go and revisit the Froch fight and tell me that that is the same caliber of fighter you are seeing. If that is the case, I'm sorry, but it is going to be difficult even arguing my case because you must have your mind made up in advance.

Now take the Andrade fight. Let's start with the foot work. Notice how Kessler moves sideways avoiding the in-rushing Andrade. Now I know that Froch and Andrade do not fight alike, but there are similarities in their offence. Both come in swinging rather than punching and are very open for counters. Take the Froch fight where it often seems as if Kessler is aware that Froch is about to fire because of how telegraphed his punching is. Every time this happens Kessler just puts his gloves up and hope for the best. The Andrade version of Kessler WOULD have avoided these punches and in the process countering Froch more often. His more or less complete neglect of head movement in the Froch fight did not really help either.

And notice his punching. In the Andrade fight it is crisp and straight. In the Froch fight he has a habit of not commiting to his punches and looping them far to much.

Maybe you could state that Kessler always has been overrated. But come on. Which top fighter has not had fans overrating him? I believe that he, in his prime, was a great fighter that would have given any top supermiddle (except Roy Jones) in the division's history a good fight. He might not win most of them, but neither would he have disgraced himself.

Past his prime. Good fighter that could have been great if he had been exposed to better trainers and opponents much earlier in his career

HE's just not as shrp i think that issue with his promoter sucked alot out of him more so then then any fight.

HE still seems a bit rusty if you look he fought the same way in all his past 3 fights Perdomo,Ward and Froch. it was good enough for 2 out of 3. i think he's starting to get more into his grove the more often he fights the sharper he'll get. but like tarver said he seem not on point as he did 2 years ago. he needs to shake off the rust . some fighter take longer to shake off rust after inactivity.
