Lacy was completely shot. That victory smells terrible immediately after Lacy fights his first comeback fight. The sad thing is busting that hump is still one of Joe's best victories.

Lacy shot going into the Joe C. fight? Get out.

As for the original question, I think Ward, Dirrell, and Froch give him problems. Yes Froch, he is completely unorthodox just like Bika who gave him problems.

Ooh! Good comparison - and now I just pictured a fight in my mind:

    Sakio Bika vs. Carl Froch!

    Now that could be fun.

Normally I would agree with your way of thinking but Lacy never came all the way back after he tore up his shoulder. Lacy was overrated before he went down the tubes.

dont see any of the Super 6 beating Calazghe but Ward and Dirrell are far from the finished article yet.

I picked Ward giving him the most trouble. Here's my own personal breakdown. Feel free to disagree:

Calzaghe vs Kessler - we saw how that one went down already. Calzaghe UD 12.

Calzaghe vs Abraham - this fight would look a lot like Pacquiao/Clottey. Abraham just isn't busy enough to be competitive. Joe frustrates Abraham for 12 rounds and while he doesn't hurt Abraham, Abraham stays behind his high guard practically all night, so Calzaghe wins a landslide victory, probably near if not a complete shutout, based on work-rate.

Calzaghe vs Froch - Froch chases Calzaghe around the ring with lunging hooks and straights. Froch manages to slip some of Calzaghe's punches and perhaps takes a couple of rounds when he manages to lure Calzaghe into trading toe-to-toe, which Joe liked to do, but Calzaghe wins over the distance. Froch's excellent chin won't be unduly tested. Calzaghe UD 12.

Calzaghe vs Taylor - Taylor uses his good jab and solid boxing skills in the early rounds to make the fight competitive, until past the halfway mark when Calzaghe wears Taylor down and stands a chance of getting the fight stopped late with JT taking far too many punches on the ropes. Calzaghe TKO 11.

Calzaghe vs Dirrell - Dirrell's foot speed and southpaw stance are his main assets here, but he is sorely under-experienced when compared with Calzaghe. A lot of people have questioned Dirrell's "heart", opining that he seems to "slip" often when in trouble. But the man that arguably beat Froch and ran a clinic on Abraham faces a much more unorthodox fighter in Calzaghe. Dirrell's best chance is to keep Calzaghe at a distance with his jab and use his footwork to give Calzaghe angles, but I see Calzaghe getting close often enough to flurry and counter to give him the victory. Calzaghe UD 12.

Calzaghe vs Ward - Again, Ward is another very quick boxer, and he's extremely aggressive. Ward has a tendency to jump in and throw punches, but I see him taking 5-6 in return to land the 1-2 he throws. Given that he doesn't have huge amounts of power, I can't see him stopping Calzaghe, but the fact that he 'is' so fast and has such an excellent jab will win him several rounds against the Welshman. Calzaghe by close UD.

Calzaghe vs Green - Green's resume is extremely light. Outside of the stunning first round KO of a young and inexperienced Codrington and the loss to Miranda (who Ward dispatched fairly easily), in which he was extremely close to being knocked out late, Green has very little experience at the top level, even less than Dirrell who can at least count Oganov and Hanshaw on his resume. Green does have good power, but comparatively slow hands when put up against the likes of Dirrell, Ward or Calzaghe. He just isn't busy enough. Calzaghe takes this one by fairly wide UD.

to be honest i don't think none of the fighters would of beaten calzaghe. the come forward fighters would have a hard task due to calzaghe's movement, speed and workrate, and the likes of ward, who i believe will win the tournament we've only seen against one good fighter.

Thing is, Ward definitely has the ability to be a better fighter in his prime than Calz, right now though I would still take Calz by about 8-4.

Dirrell has the athleticism to give anyone troubles but I see him as much more of an athlete than fighter, hopefully he can prove me wrong and become another american great.

I was never huge on AA but the man has serious power and is tough as ****, but just don't see him even coming close to beating Calz, and he has pretty much reached his plateau as far as talent goes.

Green? Naw, never been impressed by him, he is way overhyped from the fights I have seen, almost KTFO by Donnie McCrary.

Kessler has no imagination nor do his trainers. He has a lot of talent and that will carry him to beat all the good-very good fighters but he will always fall short against the elite, just way too basic.

Froch looks like straight **** but the man has the heart of a lion. If Dirrell had his mental makeup, he would be an all-time great.

i think calzaghe would of stopped froch. yes froch has great durability, but his defense is so **** that i expect too many punches from calzaghe to land.

I agree with some of what you have here but holy mother of god many of you have Calzaghe over rated. People talk about the guy like he is Rocky Marciano. He was the clear best in his division for a around a total of 4-5 fights for about 3 years. He might very well have been the best for much longer but he fought stiffs for the bulk of his prime years.

I think he beats all these guys at THIS stage in their careers. of course as they grow- who knows how great some of these cat s will become . going thru it:

Abraham: his workrate schools the fairly inactive and defensive AA. this would be like pac/clottey- abrahams shell dosent give him a chacne to match the workrate of joe.
Green: this is a good fight- but i think joe clear decision. too much.
Ward: I think ward has the best chance of beating joe- but maybe not quite yet. if anything his quick feet help him evade foes flurries, and he has fast hands himself.
    Kessler: been there done that.
Dirrell: I think Dirrell- also has a good chance of unseating Joe- his long arms and quickness are a mofo for anybody- but he dosent have the gusto to go deep into waters- i think dirrell leads after 4- then joe takes him into deep waters where his activity is too much for the late fading dirrell. hard to get a decision going backwards as much as dirrell- against a volume guy like joe.
Froch: i think joe again, takes this guy. funnily i think in the last kessler fight- froch tried to fight in many ways as a joe c would, hands low- striking that jab, turning his man- but with a lot less skill- and without the flurries. i think the difference is- that joe simply KNOWs how to win close, deep fights. Froch has pulled out some close wins- but theyve been controversial. Joe knew how to amp it up enough- to impress the judges enough- to pull out his close wins. i think he does the same here.

It's not that I think Calzaghe is by any means unbeatable. He 'was' an excellent fighter, though. A guy like Ward or perhaps Dirrell has the potential, but at this point in their careers it's very hard to say since they're both still so young and still developing.

I think Kessler would have fancied his chances in a re match but it would go to Joe after 12 rounds,Froch and Abraham would have ended up getting outpointed in true boring Calzaghe style and i dont know about the Americans as ive not really seen enough of them.I think Joe would probably win the whole thing all on points and have great fun boring everyone to death.Thank god he aint in it.
