how would calzaghe have faired in the super six?

depends if your doing it prime for prime or in the form they were in when the super 6 begain.

prime for prime, calzaghe would outwork them all and win the super 6

but by the time the super 6 had started, calzaghe was struggling to make weight, he then moved up to light heavyweight. in this instance, i think he would win all of his 1st 3 fights, but by the time the semi's roll on, he'll be aging and deteriorating, meaning someone like ward, dirrell to outpoint him, or froch or abraham to land on his now fragile chin

but to answer the question, ward is my choice

 

I think Ward would give him the most competetive fight with his speed.

But I still say Abraham has the best chance of actually beating him and that would be by knockout while being behind on the scorecards having lost every second of the fight uptil that point...

 

Ward seems the best bet so far but I've only seen him against one good fighter so I'll reserve my judgement for now.

 

Dirrell would be the most difficult opponent, he would just run away from Joe and use his reach. Ward seems to be the most talented and can definatley cause problems to Calzaghe.

Calzaghe would be a bad match up for AA, Calzaghe would just slap the **** out of that peek a boo defense.

Just because Froch lost to Kessler dont mean Calzaghe would thrash him easily. I think Calzaghe win by workrate would be the most logical, but if Froch does floor Calzaghe once he would have finished him off.

 

calzaghe would have won the supersix. he was a class fighter. but he's a class fighter who milked boxing and never got a top fighter on his resume in their prime.

as a genuine champion, he's a symbol for everything that is wrong with the way boxing is run and what fighters can get away with.

Calzaghe would have been robbed atleast once fight abroad.

 

I think Calzaghe would have won it fairly easily.

Kessler, Froch and Abraham all struggle with fast boxers with high workrates who create angles.

Dirrell, IMO, would be intimidated by Calazghe, and as such would resort to his negative fighting. Calzaghe would win it on workrate and aggression.

Ward stands the best chance for, although admittedly I've only seen the Kessler fight so I don't know enough about him.

If Calzaghe went to detroit or Oakland to fight dirrell or Ward, a sneaky SD in favor of the hometown fighter is possible.

Or Berlin to fight AA, a Roger Tilleman scorecard 115-113 to AA is possible.

 

calzaghe was an exceptional fighter.
but an exceptional fighter who never tested himself.
i doubt any current super six fighters could have outboxed calzaghe to a points decision in any country.

 

Your overrating Ward a bit,just cos he beat Kessler,headbutting him on the way,its like he`s the best 168lb already and always was.Bull****.If he win the tournament,yes i`d say he would beat Calzaghe.Calzaghe beat Lacy comprehensively and also Kessler and yes at the moment i`d have him beating any of the 6 supermiddles.
