i clicked hatton cause of his fights with zoo and getting the chance to fight the best in pac and mayweather

but on second thoughts, with cotto beating mosely, also getting a shot at pac and his fight with brickfists is a bit controversial, as we don't know wheather or not he had tampered with the wraps in that specific fight, as well as now fighting for a 3rd weight division title

i changed my mind to cotto

to be honest it shouldnt be an issue.
both cotto and hatton deserve to be two of the most respected fighters of our time. fullstop.

Regardless of where Zoo was on the rankings, was he or was he not past past his best when Hatton got hold of him? Did he or did he not retire after the fight?

Now compare that to Cotto's opponent in Mosley (who by the way is a level or two above Zoo). Did he go in to retirement? No. He went on to beat Mayorga, and destroy the machine like Margarito! He's now going into a mega fight with Floyd Mayweather.

Mosley = far better than any opponent Hatton ever beat

He wasn't really fighting for the p4p tittle, he fought the p4p king twice but I don't think if he wins either of those fights he would have been #1. I also think you have to take into account his drawing power as to why he had those oportunities. You think Floyd was worried in the least when he took that fight? Or Pac for that matter. I'd give the nod to Mosely as being the better opposition as well over Tszyu

Cotto fought the stiffer opposition throughout his career so I'd give the nod to him slightly. Being the man at 140 for as long as Hatton was has to count for something though.

the fact koysta retired after his fight with hatton and mosely carried on fighting after losing to cotto isn't really an argument. you could spin that around and say hatton took more out of koysta than cotto took out of mosely. but although koysta had just demolished mitchell in 3 rounds, 6 months before fighting hatton he probably was past his prime a bit, but then so was mosely. and remember hatton stopped koysta, cotto won a very close descision against mosely.

Cotto. No doubt in my mind.
Ive never been a big fan of Hatton and always felt like he has either ducked certain fighters or had to be the bigger stronger man if he took a fight. (Im sure that will cause some backlash. Its not meant to)
Cotto has been willing to take on anyone, and deserves high praise in my opinion.

Who did he duck? Junior Witter?!

Hatton in his prime would have beaten Cotto at 140.
