Any time you throw a punch with your left arm your head should move to the right, and vice versa, right?
so how do you incorporate head movement into your boxing? When I see people use head movement in sparring its usually just them bobbing their head to the side from way out of range. you can see i need some help :yep:hey
You...like...move your head. When the guy punches you, you move your head out of the way. When he's not punching you, you move your head to make him think you're about to punch him. If he tries to punch you while you're doing this, he's likely to miss, because your head is moving. When you punch the guy, you ****ing...move your head. So you can keep on punching him. Just spar a lot.
Anytime is predictable. Mix it up. Usually guys who are not very fast do this to invoid incoming shots. Cotto and Hopkins do it alot.
For a guy whose only been in an actual boxing gym for a few weeks, you have quite an elitist attitude. I think you should stop trying to blend in with the experienced posters until you get some actual experience, you transparent stooge.
tilting your head to the right while throwing a jab can help you against tall fighters, but you got to remember, humans adapt, and so must you. one thing isnt going to work on every one, and even if you find someone it dose work on over doing anything will put you in harms way. mix it up, on defense and offense.
Agreed...on the heavybag and during sparring, I try to be as unpredictable as possible with head movement. I do get predictable at times, I'm told, but it's not for lack of trying. You can also initiate combinations with head movement, but if you're not in good condition, this will cause you to tire prematurely. I know that when I get tired all I do is keep a high guard, and look to counter my opponent. Head movement and moving around is exhausting, but if you're looking to make the other guy miss you have to do them.
