Froch-Kessler - My Scorecard

    Rewatched it again right now... scoring each round directly after watching it

    I am a fan of both fighters and wasn't rooting for anyone really to win when watching it live... Heres how I score it - Sorry for typo's, typing while watching, not looking at computer screen at all.


    Round 1 10-9 Froch close

    Both fighters land jabs ... Kessler comes forward, does land some good rights to the body. Froch land some good power shots and mostly controls the round.

    Round 2 10-9 Froch

    Kessler lands solid right directly to Froch's ribs, Kessler lands a few jabs.. Froch controls the rest of the round with his left... glancing right hands.. good short left hook by Froch.. Froch Lands a right hand toward end of round.

    Round 3 10-9 Kessler

    Kessler lands great jabs .... more great body work. Kessler Pushing back Froch. Froch lands great 1-2 combo, slightly blocked.. Froch missing and getting shots blocked. Kessler wins round due to aggression and effective jabbing

    Round 4 10-9 Froch

    Kessler lands another good right to the body... some more good body work by Kessler.. Froch keeping Kessler at bay with his left... Froch lands big right hand.. another big right hand by Froch, uppercut.. Froch wins due to his power shots and control with the jab.

    Round 5 10-9 Froch

    More bodywork from Kessler ... great exchange, Froch lands big looping left hook. Great jabbing from Kessler.. Kessler lands short left uppercut .. Kessler's slip... Many of Froch's power shots are glancing blows.. Kessler slip .... Huge right hand landed by Froch, best punch of fight. another good combo from Froch.. Froch wins round, most effective shots were landed by Froch.

    Round 6 10-9 Kessler

    Kessler starts round with a good overhand right... Both men landing jabs.. Good work being done by Kessler... most of Froch's shots are being blocked.. Froch has good combo toward end of round.. Great combo by Kessler...another solid jab by Kessler.. Kessler wins round due to effective aggression, good combos and body work.

    Round 7 10-9 Kessler

    Kessler goes in with strong combo/bodywork... neither guy landing real clean shots... Kessler starts attacking then moving out, opposed to standing there after combos... Kessler wins round to due activity and effective punching..

    Round 8 10-9 Kessler

    Both guys landing early in 8th.. Kessler with good aggression... Kessler lands monster right as Froch comes in, busts up his nose.. Froch hurt... Kessler attacks , can't land another big one of that huge nose.. Round obviously goes to Kessler

    Round 9 10-9 Froch close

    Kessler having trouble getting by Froch's left ... Froch lands some good power shots and throws a couple good combos.. Froch attacks and lands some shots... Kessler lands great left uppercut.. Froch lands left hook.. Froch wins round imo.. close

    round 10 10-9 Froch

    Good left 45 by kessler ... some clean shots getting through for Froch. Kessler with good combo to body... Froch lands great left , catches Kessler flush. Good jabbing by Froch.. Kessler attacks, doesn't land much. Froch lands the cleaner, more powerful shots

    Round 11 10-9 Froch Close

    Froch blocks Kesslers shots.. Kessler putting good combos together, but eats some solid jabs from Froch.. Froch lands a great right hand and a few other good shots ..Kessler being very aggressive ... missing most.. does land a looping right.. Kessler eats hard shots right thorugh his gaurd .. Another couple good power shots from Froch.. Froch wins IMO ... landing harder punches , and more of them

    Round 12 10-9 Froch Close

    Both guys attacking in spurts and being effective... Good jabs by Froch.. both fighters being reckless , missing a lot.. Great left landed by Froch.. Froch with many clean shots landed... Toe to Toe.. Froch landing the better punches .. Kessler is exhausted, fights on strong... Great left by Kessler.. another ..



    Final Score -- 116 -112 Froch

    I have 4 rounds labeled as "close" aka toss - up rounds... So it seems to me that the judges gave any close round to Kessler. I was actually somewhat rooting for Kessler, because I didn't want to see him out in the Tourney, but it was clear to me that Froch won. Froch landed the much more effective shots and at a higher rate. Like I said, I am fans of both guys... and am even a bigger fan of both after watching that fight. A lot of heart was shown by both guys. With the 4 toss up rounds.. I can see how it was scored for Kessler... but 117-111 for Kessler is utter bull****

    I had it 115-113 Froch. This is the story of the fight "most effective shots were landed by Froch."

    Funny thing is, I thought Froch won this fight, but I thought he lost the Dirrell fight.

    dude you are way offbase on the 1st round, all Froch did was paw at the air not hitting anything thats not what I call controlling the round. I think Kessler landed the more effective punching and won the round.
    round 2-toss up I had it a draw
    round 3-you right kessler had it
    round 4-froch
    round 5-froch
    round 6-kessler
    round 7-Kessler
    round 8-Kessler
    round 9-draw
    round 10-froch
    round 11-draw
    round 12-froch

    so we are mostly in agreement except you give all the rounds I had a draw to froch where as I couldnt' see a decisive winner in those rounds.

    My score 116-115 Kessler-if judges would use the draw round more we would probably have fairer fight scores.

    Froch said "it could have gone either way".

    Froch's trainer said "Carl didn't through enough. He could have won if he can thrown as much as Kessler"

    Now, for the people who are not in Froch's camp:

    95% of everyone in the world says Kessler won clearly (but closely).

    And then we have these cry-babies... FFS, go dry your eyes, everyone in here are tired of your weeping.

    I've only scored it once and had it 115-113 for Kessler, i don;t know my card though sorry. But i'll say this, Froch impressed me in this fight, i thought he was awful against Dirrell personally and i had Dirrell winning that by 4 points. But this was very good from Froch and it was a very very close fight, i don;t really have any arguments against those in his favour here.

    Kessler's footwork was a visible weakness again, just that this wasn't the opponent to exploit it. Very enjoyable fight this though.

    I didn't see Kessler land much of anything in the 1st round that was impressive... both guys landed some good jabs ... it was a toss up IMO

    How can you say it's clear to you that Froch won when you have 4 rounds labeled close? Some ppl seem to think Froch's work with the left scored, but it didn't reall land, mostly it hit the gloves.
    Froch took to many breaks and didn't press the action like Kessler, so I gave it to Kessler and I think Kessler won his share of rounds most impressive so no doubt there.

    Kessler had alot of good jabs and hooks to the body, and he didn't give Froch many chances to come forwar himself, and when he did he had difficulties with landing flurries.
    BTW how do you guys know that Froch landed the most effective punches could you feel them? listen to the post fight comments from the horse's mouth.

    No your right it was a feel out round where either fighter didnt land much of anything but I think Kessler landed more effective punching then Froch in that round. Easy round to score for me, its the other rounds thats hard.

    I think i'm gonna go make myself suttin to drink and eat and sit down and watch the showtime version if it's still up on youtube.

    Watching the fight live on stream i scored it to Froch by 2.

    Even if he was robbed of the razor thin close rounds, idk seeing as how Dirrell was robbed in Froch's back yard.
