He allowed Mayorga to bait him into a slugfest the first fight. The second fight I don't recall.

Vernon didn't stick to his game plan in the rematch. If you bum rush Vernon he has a tendency to start throwing wild punches or just start brawling. Mayorga got in his head and made him get out of his game plan. Also, he had a horrible shoulder injury.

Vernon fought scared.. Mayorga is good at sucking out confidence if you play that game

All i can remember is that Ricardo beat Forest around like a rag doll. It is a shame that Vernon had the bum shoulder I think he had the skill and talent to have been very special

Sometimes Vernon didn't fight the right fight. A prime example was when he fought Santiago Sameniego. For six rounds Vernon kept headhunting and couldn't get the guy out. His corner tells him to start hitting the body, and Vernon finally get's him out. He sometimes didn't fight the way he should have. Forrest was one of my favorite fighters, but he pissed me off at times. He was still a great fighter, but he should have been better.

So you gave it to forrest by a point or two. Yeah man, "clearly" a robbery then. We'll just call you "God" from now on.

    ****in' dumb****.

For those of you who are actually serious out there and didn't see the rematch - it was one of those great, close fights that's just a matter of how you score it. I remember thinking Mayorga imposed his style over Forrest, and so I liked him by a point or two, but those who thought Forrest won have a good case as well.

Close fight but I had Mayorga winning. You could tell he intimidated Forrest, with Forrest fighting safety first and controlled the action with somewhat effective aggression.
