I was on the WBC website and saw that Ray Austin who won and eliminator vs Williamson suddenly fell out of the ranks Solis is still a top guy. Some how Valuev is in the WBC ranks Saw that they were going to fight Anybody else hear this?
Boo! Neither of them is compelling viewing for me. If there was a double KO, would they both lose their ranking and potentially disappear from the title scene? :think
I think Valuev's plan is this He wins Solis and become the official challenger for the WBC belt. He will have to fight Klirshko, BUT, Vitali at the end of the year quits boxing . So , he may fight for the vacant belt Just a thought :hey
I didn't think of the fighting for a vacant belt thing, but I can't figure out why Valuev would want to go through an eliminator when he could have fought Vitali right off and then bailed because he wanted more money than he deserves. It's not like you get more money just because you're the number 1 contender.
I think what troubles Valuev more for a fight with Klitschko is not the money but the (very possible) loss
If you become mandatory challenger and the fight goes to purse bide as challenger you are guarenteed something like 25-30% of the winning bid. I'm guessing Vitali's original purse split offer was nowhere near this high.
Vitali had a guaranteed 2 mil if i recall right. He's a freakshow attraction,I kinda hope this backfires so no one gives that lumbering goon a title shot anymore. But then again,I think Vitali would jab at him until he looked like that huge monster guy from 300.
