When having a look at Harold Jonhson for mine and Sugarsean's light-heavy debate, i saw him doing it brilliantly.

The best heavyweight i ever saw pull this move off fluently over and over again was Charles Liston.. Wlad has a great close in trick of throwning a short jab followed by a neat left hook Ko punch that travells less than a foot, He got rid of Charles Shufford with that Combination.. BUT......... Liston was the best i ever saw.. It was like trade mark imo.. Did you ever try that move out ??????? Hooking off the jab is an unnatural combination.. you either can or you can't.. Liston could!!

The master, what makes him so special in this regard. Is that hooking-of-the-jab is a manuever that requires great balance, he did perfectly and was always ready to come back with that right hand. He also threw a hook after his right hand perfectly aswell.

Charles, is the guy who popped into my head first, he threw quite a solid left hook of his jab, real powerful shot.

I thought, nobody is going to mention him, I will mention him and look smart. He was ecellant at it.

For a great example in left hand work: hooking off the jabs, double jabs etc..., check out Johnson vs Eddie Machen

Machen deserves a shout in here for left hooks of a jab.

    Ricardo Lopez.
And for hooking downstairs to the body off a jab, I think Pedroza and Hopkins deserve mentions. MacCallum, too.

Definitely not in the same league as the other guys mentioned but Moorer was surprisingly decent at this (imo).

    You better be.

Machen is actually suprisingly skilled, I was impressed with him. One of the most cultured left hands in Heavyweight boxing.

Loved the little spin he used against Liston to get away from the ropes and corners as well.

Will need to check it ou, have the fight ready to watch.

Against Johnson he showed good movement, counter-punching and left hand work. But it was fought exclusivly in mid-ring. was a joy to watcvh.
