While watching a replay of Dirrel's last fight, I noticed how much he reminded me of Floyd and Roy Jones Jr, who always seem to be fighting scared. What other boxers fit this mold?
I've only seen this guy fight once and it was against Hopkins...last name Hakkar. The fighter used all 400 sq. feet or that ring in the first round.
Scared is usually not used to describe top level fighters like Dirrell, Floyd, and RJJ. Defensively...yeah... Careful...absolutely. Michael Nunn comes to mind again.
lol.. the guys the poster mentioned are not fighting "scared" at all... they are just more defensive minded... nothing wrong with that... people who fight "scared" don't win any fights...
Fight scared?.....wtf......if Floyd fights scared then i think that adds to his awesomeness. Think about it your profession is in fighting/boxing but you're scared to get hit therefore you've never lost a fight.....that **** is EPIC. So get this whole fighters fighting scared **** outta here!
Golota seemed to fight scared until he landed a couple of good shots. Once he started landing though, he had all the confidence in the world and would beat your ass.
You took the words right out of my mouth...If a fighter is fighting scared, why are they pro fighters in the first place??? Some people just say some of the dumbest ****!atsch
Not saying they are cowards at all, but I have seen the unmistakable look of fear on the faces of Jones, Dirrell and Mayweather plenty of times. IMO that is part of the reason fighters like them are very effective at being great defensive fighters.
Clottey looked kinda weak against Pacquiao. Uncharacteristically so. Although I dunno if i can call that scared...
Log off. You clearly have never boxed before and don't have a clue as to what you're talking about. PBF is one of the coolest people you will ever see in the ring and is never really shown any real distress in his fights.:deal Just because he employs great defense doesn't mean he's scared. I guess Pea Whitaker was scared as well?atsch
Teddy Atlas uses that term often.. "fighting scared" he doesn't mean it in a bad way though. Anyway, I'm throwing Ivan Calderon's name into the hat.
