Anyone know how he's doing? He retired during a time I quit following the sport as closely as I had for the decade and a half previous. I was doing a lot of travelling and had other interests. What exactly was the story with his attempted comeback? Was he really slated to fight Jones, Jr? How dire were his health problems?

Thanks for the info. I used to drink in his brother's or uncle's bar (I forget which relative owned it) in Dublin when I would travel there. Good times.

Tried making a comeback in '99 when Jones was running out of opponents, he was contacted after Eubank turned down big-money offers.

Howard Eastman hit him with a shot in sparring (at the Lennox Lewis gym in London) and he apparently blacked out (!) and decided against it. Howard insists he didn't knock Collins out because it wasn't a hard shot and it was on the top of the head with an 18oz glove, according to Eastman.

Recently been in trouble with the law for GBH on a nightclub bouncer I believe, when he wasn't let in to a VIP because the kid didn't know who he was! According to reports, Collins knocked him out. This was only a year or so ago and court cases are ongoing!

wasn't he also in trouble for beating the **** out of a wife/girlfriend a few years a go?.

I liked Collins as a fighter. He had a poor man's gene Fullmer feel about him.Exceptionally strong and could do a bit of everything, but done under the basic guise of an unorthodox roughousing brawler, rather than any kind of typical boxer-puncher or pressure fighter.

Howver, the style he started using from the Eubank rematch on was the most horrendous, unskilled swarming approach i've ever witnessed.

I know it's a drug and a shitty crusty punk band. What is it in this context?

Figured it out... Grevious Bodily Harm.

You best know who he is.

I think he is living abroad(from Ireland) very smart fighter, very smart. The bouncer he clocked was an Albanian if I remember correctly, no kid, and it was at the Stadium, before a televised show.

I read that the bouncer got rough with Collins thinking he was a lot smaller and would be a pushover. Then surprise, surprise! Collins laid him out. The musclehead picked on the wrong guy and paid the price. I hope Collins wins the case because he was defending himself and should not have to pay him a dime.
