fúckin right ya wouldnt - we've been starved of a pro since Vinny Feeney retired - Reynolds keeps making noises about turning over but still hasnt and is gettin a bit old.
Well, keep your eyes open for a Manc with Deise blood. Havn't had anything happening in these parts since Neil Gough was running riot in the amateurs. There is a decent looking fella in one of the local gyms though, half Indian, half Deise, too early to judge him yet.
any predictions for prizefighter:think cant see how hide can lose:deal but corbett can beat anthony... although anthony seems like a banger... any1 see him fight i can see these semis krence v dickinson hide v corbett then hide beating dickinson in final
Herbie goes verbally bananas at weigh in Submitted by Paul Foley on 29 April, 2010 - 17:08 Herbie Hide showed he was ready for fight action looking in superb sculptured condition scaling 14st 4lbs 8oz at todays prizefighter cruiserweights weigh in. The Crowne Plaza Hotel Shoreditch London hosted and also included Hide throwing a few verbals towards opponent Wayne Brooks. As Herbie climbed aboard the scales and raised his hands he proudly said No sauna just hard work. At 38, Hide has one of the most outstanding physiques in boxing and proves the old adage that age is just a number. Hide then sat with the Matchroom team in an adjacent room sharing stories and looking in good spirits, but that changed once Wayne touched down. Welshman Brooks arrived half an hour late and with Herbie already dressed then found himself on the end of Hides tongue. As Brooks walked in the small room Herbie sparked into life. Are you trying to stare me out? questioned the nuts-by-nature Norfolk native. Hide hadnt quite finished his warm welcome for the quiet 23-year-old Welshman. You think I would be scared of you? Ive fought the best. Matchroom head of boxing John Wischhusen then asked Herbie to show a little respect and reminded the former world champion of his pre-fight scuffle with Michael Bentt in 1994 that John found himself in the middle of. As Brooks climbed onto the scales remaining calm and focused Herbie had more in store but waited for his opening. That opportunity came as Brooks was being interviewed by Skys Ed Robinson and Hide jumped in urging Ed to ask Wayne why is his leg shaking, but Ed got on with the job to finish his piece. There was then talk of the two having to pose for photos to which Herbie was eagerly waiting but wise owl Wischhusen drew on his past experiences giving that idea the ko. As Herbie left the room you could have heard a pin drop. He then walked into and down the corridor before continuing chatting about Brooks' alleged stare to trainer Graham Everett. And if this is anything to go by, Herbie seems like he is in the mood to drop his man. Draw and weights Quarter-final 1 Mark Krence (Chesterfield) 14st 5lbs v Zahid Kahut (Dewsbury) 14st 3lbs Quarter-final 2 Jon-Lewis Dickinson (Durham) 14st 4lbs 12oz v Leon Williams (Streatham, London) 13st 11lb 8oz Quarter-final 3 John Anthony (Doncaster) 14st 4lbs 11oz v Darren Corbett (Belfast) 14st 6lbs Quarter-final 4 Herbie Hide (Norwich) 14st 4lb 8oz v Wayne Brooks (Cardiff) 14st 3lb 3oz Corbett is the fattest:yep Has he been training for this
Can the folks in this thread educate me a bit on Brian Magee? I've become interested in his career. How was/is he viewed domestically?
really enjoyed that piece Steve.. anyone backing against Hyde.. any way you can get decent Hyde odds?
I had a fiver on Corbett at 9/1 on Skybet. I have a feeling I am throwing away valuable Guinness money though. There is a bit of money going on Dickinson who is 11/2 now. He is supposed to be a slick, rangey boxer. Might be able to outbox Herbie in the final should the two meet. Should have stuck me fiver there
Maybe in Northern Ireland, i don't know but not in proper Ireland. He's only really known by proper boxing fans and for excitement you need to reel in the casuals. I think he's a little too far gone in his career to win many casual fans as he has gone just about as far as he can. Others are more qualified to answer this, i just hate to see someones questions not get answered.
magees a very good fighter but his manager is a wank... and is wasting the huge publicity magee received here after winning the euro belt... brian should have been defending his title in kings hall by now... but it looks like he wont be fighting again until september and then that will b in liverpool:good
