Yes. Hozumi did not recover well from the hook that hurt him...he just drifted to the ropes with his hands down and Montiel threw some reverberating leather.

What's crazy is that Montiel was ten seconds away from being shutout through four rounds. Once the action was underway whatever chance he had of winning looked even thinner than they had before.

  3. Zumi was out of it after the second left hand and Montiel landed about 4-5 more flush shots when he was up against the ropes. It was a very good stoppage as Zumi had his arm tangled up in the ropes and seemed unable to actually fall to the ground.

Well damn, Hozumi didn't lose a fan in me, he'll be back and I'll watch (if I can). Come on Hozumi! :happy

But this is Montiel's moment, a 3-division champ and now a solid P4P-er. Give him Donaire's or Caballero's place!

Yeah he should of, but when you get into a situation like that and never had before, you do what your instincts tell you to do.

True, it's very easy for us to sit back here and talk about what he should have done, but it's a lot more difficult to make clear decisions in the heat of battle, particularly after taking some massive shots.

I think he may have gotten his arm tangled in the rope when fell back and one of the Montiel punches caused him to briefly blackout and when he fell forward the rope held him up. Crazy ****...

  12. What's weird is that the first two left hands Montiel landed didn't seem to be all that hard, but I'd have to get another look at his entire body movements to be absolutely certain. I think the punches just caught Zumi off guard and it stunned him. The rest of the shots were just icing on the cake for Montiel. It was an exciting match because it came out of nowhere. Zumi was dictating the fight and Montiel was swinging and missing quite a bit. Zumi was coasting.

    Now showing Nishioka vs. Bangoyan

    Round 1

Bangayan circling cautiously and crouching down to fire lead rights to the body. Nishioka trying to find range with the jab and head hunting with straight lefts. Bangoyan continues to crouch his way into all his offense, not presenting a full-length target as he comes in.

Close round, I'll give it to the Filipino fighter's body work even though Nishioka landed the best single punch of the round with his straight left.

  14. You know damn well the judges didn't give that first round to Bangayan. lol
