It certainly would've hurt a lot of the Bantams around today. Don't know about K.O'd any Bantam (for one I"d like to think Khaokor would've suffered no effect) but the first shot was a real peach and Hasegawa did well to stay up....

.............although of course he'd have been better served going down, at least he was trying to move his head. Unfotunately he was ****ed:lol:

I'm getting over it a bit now. When you can laugh, it's a good sign.

Its a good reflection on the brit forum the way this high quality bout has been discussed. Went onto the 'scene that knows **** all' and there were lots of comments about "what did you expect? Hasegawa was a hometown fighter!" Depressing really. Most Champs are home town fighters if they're economically viable. Obvious exceptions being Glenn Johnson and Carl Froch.

I took GP to mean any active bantamweight. That's probably true - even Yonnhy Perez might've wound up on ***** St. after that.

As for historical bantamweights? Yeah, I can't see Galaxy or Marquez being unable to handle it (though it sure would put them on notice).

    Khaokor vs Rafael: interesting hypothetical.

What a scrap it would be, but I see Khaokor having the chin to outpunch Rafa over 12 closely contested rounds.

    I meant active Bantams.

Ive been hearing Hasegawa walks around at 140lbs, maybe he really is weight drained, but I dont think he would do to good at SBW.

Was a cracking fight though and a HUGE upset.

Khaoker vs Hasegawa: is a good one IMO.

Heard that, might do him good. Draining that much is very bad for you, unnatural.

I really did think Hasegawa was the real deal. **** sake.

Flea, how do you see Montiel doing at Bantam now? think he beats Moreno, Perez, Sidorenko, Agbeko, Cermeno, Penalose?

    Think he is top dog?

He might still be. Montiel was countering smartly throughout however.

I'm gutted as well though. Hasegawa was/is my favourite fighter.:-(

I think Perez is the best. I woulda favoured him to edge Hasegawa before the fight, I'd favour him to best Montiel too.

Bit of an exageration there Greg.

The odds pre-fight were tight enough, certainly not in the Tyson-Douglas league.

Montiel's been top level for years. Has had a bit of an iffy run of late, but this was always gonna be a hard fight for Hasegawa.

    Hopefully

I'm not sold on Perez, I thought Agbeko beat him.

It was a pretty big upset, probably upset of the year so far.

The fight also proved wrong the A-B-C logic for the millionth time. Hasegawa demolished Valdez yet Montiel struggled like **** against him and was lucky to get an TD. Really dodgy fight that was.

Judges scores at time of stoppage if anyone's interested: 30-27, 29-28, 29-28 all for Hasegawa.

I had it 29-28 Hasegawa and I was leaning towards giving Montiel the 4th before the stoppage.
