Where do you rank Mayweather now, and where would you rank him if he beats SSM? Where do you rank Mosley now, and where would you rank him if he beats PBF?
As of right now, I think Mayweather is in the top 45 or so...if he wins in spectacular fashion (and Mosley doesn't look shot) I'd say top 40. If he wins a dull decision, he'll stay where he is. Mosley is top 75 or so...if he wins - in spectacular fashion - he'll go up a few notches. If he wins a controversial decision, he won't move up a bit.
I have PBF between 51-55 and Mosley within top 80. If PBF wins, he'll be within 40-50 in my list depending on how he wins. If he loses, I'll probably put him close to top 60. If Mosley wins convincingly, he'll be within top 70. If he loses, he'll possibly be just outside of top 80 for me.
A victory for Mosley will do a lot more for his legacy than a victory for Floyd would do for Floyd's legacy. As always, a proper answer to the question relies on another question being answered first. "How did he win?". If Floyd comes out looking sharp, and Mosley manages to drop him a couple of times before knocking him cold in the 6th... it's a huge achievement. If Mosley looks old, stiff and unsure, and Floyd gets a split decision....
i don't think so man, mosley has already fought the best in the sport, floyd needs this fight for his legacy.
But people still rank Floyd higher on the P4P and ATG lists. Beating a guy who is ahead of you in the rankings always does more for you than beating a guy who is behind you.
Do you mean to say that Mayweather's legacy is not yet set? He fought the best fights in there against undefeated Corrales, game and always dangerous Gatti, the human wrecking machine Castillo, The fast and furious Zab Judah, the giant Baldomir, genaro hernandez, Angel Manfredy, the pound for pound number 2 and twice victorious against Pacquiao JMM, etc. etc. The fastest to become a world champion after 18 months of turning professional, a bronze medallist in Olympics (which he was cheated). That resume alone is more than enough to cement one's legacy. If Mayweather wins by decision, top 20 ATG surely. If by stoppage, top 10 no doubt. You don't know boxing.
floyd's dubious claim to have become fastest world champion was already discussed, and disproven, in another thread. jeff fenech for instance did it significantly quicker. his resume is good, maybe very good but not great. imo a dominant victory could make a claim for top 40 reasonable, with a huge stretch bottom of top 30 but that'd be real tough to justify. he simply hasn't done enough with his talent to be top 20. the other question is what if mayweather loses? his legacy is precarious as it stands and built in large part on his unbeaten record. if he loses, he goes from top 40, plummetting down to top 80 if he's lucky
If floyd wins i have him top 15..Unlike u losers im seeing this from a REALISTIC point of view...His opponents he fought, how convincing he won all these fights, combine with the amount of rounds won to the ratio he lost.. him givin the rematch where it was supposed to be given and his weight class reigns will do it..He may not beat the guys above him [since most are just naturally bigger lets be honest] but his skills are pretty much the greatest ive ever seen no offence to a prime jones... FLoyd will do that and then beat pacquiao to be top ten ATG
I am just trying to feel how to be a Floydette, and understand why they post such **** as "You don't knw boxing." This content is protected What I am actually worried is how many people will be saying how overrated he is if he loses to Mosley. Sure, the guy has not had the most stellar resume, but he really has the talent to be among the elite ATG if he had more heart to face stiffer competition.
No one really takes your opinion seriously. I am sure you have him in top 5 anyway, regardless whether he wins or loses.
Floyds got a better spot than 40 prob 30... Shanes outside 50 prob around 75 but he's harder to scale... Shane gains alot of ground with the win, Floyd moves down but how far depends on what he does.... Simply cuz as great as Shane is he's been beaten, Floyd hasn't, an undefeated P4P arguably prime carries farrrr...
