Which boxers who never really amounted to anything, got the best result in a fight?

How about Cachorro Amaya, with a win over Alexis Arguello?

Young Snowball ko 4 Georges Carpentier.
(Pro debut and only recorded win for Snowball - ever!)

Steve Kinney ko 1 Jack Britton.
(Kinney only man to ko Britton in 350 fight!)

Buster Drayton was virtually unheard of in Britain before he beat Mark Kaylor.

Americans always new he was much better than his record indicated.

How about Antonio Beccera over Salvador Sanchez, or Clinton Mitchell over a young Bernard Hopkins. Arguello also loss to a few nobodys early on. Or Mannys early ko losses at fly although one of them was in a title fight.

I think he is referring to true nobody's, rather than the likes of OBS, Norton, Laing, Backus, Douglas etc.

Na Randy Sandy was a respectable fighter.

How about Tomas Molinares over Marlon Starling it was an borderline after the bell shot, but no one outside of Colombia had ever even heard of Molinares and Starling was highly regarded. Molinares never had another significant win.

Alfredo Layne was also a nobody when he knocked out the past it although still champion Wilfredo Gomez, Layne also never won a meaningful fight again.
