We all know Pavlik drains himself to 160 so that he can beat up on smaller guys, that's his strength being 6 foot 2 (give or take) and using his power and reach to beat guys up who would traditionally be smaller. We know this. no point denying it. It is what it is you cannot blame a man for for taking advantages - only making excuses.

Any attempt to make 168 though would be folly but hey, I want the entertaintment so why not? If Pavlik wants to move up let him. Froch loves flat footed standup guys and would break his jaw. Kessler would cripple mr 'Lead Feet'. Dirrell would franky embarass him beyond words. Ward would Hopkins version 2 him. Bute would make him look like a chump and Abraham would..........oh wait we already know Kelly won't fight him don't we? :hey

So now that Martinez schooled him what can he do? He's at a crossroads. One way Martinez doesn't just take him to school....but to college! And the other he gets exposed and possibly comatozed. So what's next for the rigidly vertical powerhouse that is Kelly Pavlik?

Personally I hope he goes 168. I'd advise buying shares in popcorn when that happens, it'll be good entertainment while it lasts.

Sadly he'll probably suffer the same fate as Jermaine Taylor at 168, and Taylor had better boxing ability.

I like kelly but the people saying he was the "smaller man" versus hopkins are idiots , its obvious he is really hungry getting to 160

    "Only the truth"?

Pavlik has good shots at all of Froch, Kessler and AA. Don't see him beating the others, admittedly. This is typical ESB, as soon as a guy takes one loss he immediately gets chucked in the dumpster. If Pavlik beats one of the above, he'll probably be being lauded as a Top P4P commodity! You guys are so short-sighted it's pathetic.

Boxing fans SCREAM for competitive fights, but if a guy loses a competitive fight, they call him garbage. That's called hyprocrisy.

Hasegawa's getting that on a few forums. Not quite as badly as Pavlik however.

boxing fans like me are ok. i said he'll beat taylor due to taylor's footwork and bad defense covering the right hand, but i said overall he'll fail against a mover, counter puncher. guess what? i'm right, and i'll continue to be right. pavlik can't handle pure boxers.

Pavlik was well in the fight till got cut. He had made some adjustments and taking the left away from SM - he lost fair and square but it wasnt a devastating career ending loss. He can come back its just he looks beatable

The idea that Pavlik built a career around fighting smaller guys is a bit silly. Some people seem to place a lot more value on uninformed opinions than they place on facts. It just isn't that hard to click on Box Rec, and get the facts. Anyone who does that will find out that Pavlik fought well above the middleweight limit about 14 times. When I say 14 times I'm not including fights at 162 or below.

He did fight Zuniga at 160. Afterward Zuniga moved to 168, derailed the Victor Oganov hype train with a sweet left hook, and to this day has only lost at world title level.

Same deal with Miranda. He immediately moved up, and to this day has only lost to world titlists.

Pavlik beat Taylor at middleweight and super middleweight. Yep, the same Jermain Taylor that dethroned Hopkins, and gave Froch hell for 11 and 3/4 rounds.

People are not generally stupid. Most know all of the above. They just lead such small insignificant lives that they get some kind of perverse thrill out of kicking a world class athlete when he's down.
