It means nothing. Margarito dominated Cotto, but Mosley dominated Margo. Every fight is completely different, which makes tonight's fight so interesting.

different styles. cotto doesn't camp on the ropes like floyd is prone to do. that's where mosely's chance lies. i still favor floyd, but shane has a chance

the only things i can think of our....

    1. cotto has more power

    2. cotto throws a lot more than floyd and goes to the body more

    3. if floyd gives mosley time, then i do think something can and will land, especially if floyd backs up to the ropes

even though there's a chance though, i really dont see mosley taking this.....at all
mosley is a sucker for the jab and floyds right hand will work like a powerful jab that keep mosley off all night

Excellent points, Freddy. There are a lot of good points being made in the responses here and thanks to everyone for the posts. :good

I feel like you do: I can see ways Shane wins the fight but I think the most likely outcome is a Floyd UD.

As someone pointed out earlier, Shane was being beaten by Mayorga, of all people. Thankfully that late KO saved him from having to go to the judge's cards.

not to mention the margo fight really has people thinking that mosley is unbeatable at this point....i love mosley and i hope the boxing gods are on his side tonight, but reality is gonna sink in about half way thru the fight that mosley aint gonna really touch mayweather.........

Can't disagree with any of this.

Margarito was the perfect fight for Mosley. And, as you know, Tony looked like junk in that bout. Just looked slow, out-of-it.

2 of Shane's last 3 fights, he hasn't looked so hot. And he's only older since then. The Margarito punching-bag session may obscure all this for some people, but I think you'd need a total eclipse not to see what the trend has been recently for Shane.

I hope Shane puts it all together tonight, with Richardson's help. I just can't get too amped about the prospects of that occurring, though.

Someone mentioned the Mayorga fight on here, and I had forgotten until now just how bad Shane looked. I don't know if it was his trainer, some lack of preparation, or just the fact that Mayorga really is that awkward of a style to match up against, but Shane looked absolutely pitiful in that fight. He got Mayorga out of there in the 12th, but the other 11 he looked like an ameteur.

Hopefully he has put THAT performance behind him - I was thinking about the Cotto comparison recently, too. As people have said on here, Cotto had enough power to make Shane respect him, which Mayweather doesn't have. What Mayweather does have, however, is more speed than Cotto and Mosley can fall into the trap of over-respecting (I know that's not a word, lol) Mayweather's speed. If he tries to win a boxing match with Floyd and ends up taking zero risks or punishment to get at him, I don't think he's going to win this fight. He'll have to make it physical.

Look, I give Floyd full credit for this fight. This is the second best fight that can be made in the division right now and he deserves his due for taking it. HOWEVER, if we look at Mosley's performances over the last couple of years, Margarito was a red herring -- very little movement or defense, wide open to Mosley's winging punches, etc, and made Shane look quick by comparison. But had he not poured it on in the last round against Mayorga, I had Ricardo winning that fight, FFS! Shane blamed his lacklustre performance in that fight on Mayorga's unorthodox style. Well, if he thinks that's unorthodox, what will he think when Mayweather is using his movement and angles to drive him crazy?

There are plenty of stories in this sport of Experience prevailing over youth, but usually, SPEED KILLS a veteran fighter. And Floyd has that in spades. I hope Shane makes a good go of it, I really do, but we have to face facts and realize his better days are about 6- 7 years behind him.

if that fight was in la or lv mosley would have gotten the dec. also mosley was leary about cotto's power. don't think shane is scared of floyd's power. also jack mosley was not exactly good at giving shane advice like nazim is. i think floyd will win but things have have changed for mosley since the cotto fight, and cotto and floyd are too different fighters. if cotto out boxed mosley why can't floyd do the same? true. but floyd didn't exatly impress with marquez either. floyd should koed a lightweight who's best weight is actually 126.
