Every one talks about one organisation buying out and unifying all the others but the chances of that happening are very slim.

What if each organisation had their own division?

    for example

    Heavyweight - WBA

    Cruiserweight - IBF

    Light Heavyweight - WBC

    Super Middleweight - WBO

    Middleweight - Ring Magazine

    Light Middleweight - IBO

    etc etc.

Just an idea so dont say fail or have a go but I just want to know what everyone else thinks? Its a simpler easier way to reduce the number of champions in boxing and who knows it could work

    I highly doubt that happens.

Still its a more possible solution than having one org buy out all the others, could work too? what do ya think?

The reason there are so many belts in boxing is that everyone who could make a change - boxers, promoters, tv companies, fans - are happy that there are so many.

You'll tell me that fans would prefer there to only be one, but they turn up in bigger numbers when a 'world title' is on the line, so where is the evidence.

That's the bottom line. While everyone who has a stake is happy with the situation there is no way it can change. You could eliminate all the organisations today and someone would just set up a new one tomorrow because it suited their particular self-interest at that time.

How would this happen other than for one organisation to buy out the exclusive rights to a division? A buy out scenario is the only way that this could fly. Without remuneration why would any organisation agree to give up other divisions. Rather than a single buy out, you'd be faced with a acquisition process for each division.

Saying that though I do like the fact that you are actually putting forward a potential solution, I myself can't think of anything better than a complete buy out which would never be commercially viable anyway.

They would never go along with it BUT I would be very pleased if this went down.

Well while I don't think it could be realised I like the idea all the same. I've read so much bitching regarding the alphabet soup organisations and no-one actually puts forward any solutions.

Whilst I hate the situation as much as anyone else I fear we're stuck with it.

I just thought of a hilarious consequence of this, imagine how pissed off Wlad would be if IBF and WBO both failed to win out the Heavyweight division, oh there would be some angry fighters out there, 75% of the world title holders simultaneously stripped!

How about boxers not paying the sacationing fees? They need those fees to exest.

Why do you think they pay the sanctioning fees in the first place?

They think they have no choice. Sure they won't get a belt from the WBC, WBA, WBO or IBF. But so what it is just a belt. The Ring magizane's rankings has it's share of flaws espicialy the fact that the magizine is owned by a promotion company (Golden Boy Promotions) and like any rankings there is a bit of subjection to them. However they are about as close to a real championship that we are going to get anytime soon.
